A western Pennsylvania man and his emotional support alligatortook a shopping cart spin around the local Walmart, where he claims they've never had a problem — but this recent trip earned them orders to stay away, the retail giant confirmed Thursday.

Wesley Silva, 60, and his 5-foot-long, 32-pound reptile named Jinseioshi made the local news after a trip to a Walmart in West Brownsville, where he pushed the alligator around in a shopping cart as she was wearing a dress.

Before concerns about the recent visit were raised, Silva insisted he and Jinseioshi experienced nothing but praise.

"We have been going to that Walmart for about 3½ years, and normally the reaction is 'That's pretty cool' or 'That is awesome that you have a pet alligator, man!'" Silva told NBC News on Thursday.

A Walmart spokesperson, though, was far less effusive and said Jinseioshi and any other gators aren’t welcome inside the stores.

“The safety of our customers and associates is our highest priority,” Walmart said. “We welcome service animals in our stores, but it is unacceptable to expose members of the public to potential danger.”

Silva said he got the alligator from a neighbor who couldn't care for it anymore and gave it to him.

Now Jinseioshi spends much of her days in a pool outside and nights in a bathtub of water.

Before Jinseioshi arrived, Silva already had a zoo's worth of reptiles in his animal family, including six snakes, a leopard gecko, a Komodo dragon, an ocellated skink and a second alligator. He also has a dog.

Silva, a pastor at a Baptist church and a Brethren church, stopped just short of calling his worship of reptiles a holy act.

"In the Bible, God talks about us having dominion over animals, and I developed an affinity for the reptiles," said Silva, the father of five children. "I find them very soothing."

The reptile collection started three years ago when a daughter wanted a snake.

"I held it one night and I just kind of started really bonding with it and holding it," he said. "And finally, she gave me an ultimatum, 'Dad, really, you need to get your own snake.'"

Fucking how
Apparently Pennsylvania doesn’t have a law against exotic animals
In Pennsylvania, possessing certain "exotic wildlife," including large felines, bears, wolves, coyotes, and nonhuman primates, requires an annual permit from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and two years of documented experience with the specific species. While some exotic animals like hedgehogs and sugar gliders are allowed, others, such as skunks and non-native venomous reptiles, also require specific permits or restrictions, and importation rules must be followed. Importing skunks is generally prohibited, but they can be kept as pets if purchased within the state from a USDA-licensed breeder
Edit: remembering what a Komodo Dragon is, this post deserves trashcans.

It's a big lizard. It can't move any faster than a toddler on land, and if you keep away from the business end you're in no danger.

Nigger what? where the fuck did he get a komodo dragon?! and more to the point how have the feds not broken down his door and seized it? Those things are dangerous as fuck. Like nobody in their right mind would go anywhere near one kind of dangerous. Not to mention they're on the endangered species list

They can for very short periods

No but federal law is pretty clear about having dangerous animals and more to the point, being in possession of endangered animals, which they are. There is no way he has it legally and no way he could have ever obtained it legally

Plus you can guarantee the state has laws against being in possession of any animal thats a threat to public safety, which a komodo dragon absolutely is. You do not fuck with those things and don't ever, ever want to get bitten by one

What’s more likely, he actually has a komodo dragon hanging around his other animals or he has a taxidermied komodo dragon

Komodos can be over 8 feet long, weigh over 150 pounds, and would be trying to eat this man's dog and children any chance it got. Plus, they are illegal to sell/buy and could fetch upwards of $30,000 on the black market.

Most likely this journofag fucked up and was too lazy to do any real research and Mr Silva actually owns a Bearded Dragon, which is more in line with his collection of snakes, geckos, and skinks.

Look, this is America. There's a non-zero chance he does have a legitimate but most definitely illegal Komodo dragon somehow.
