That case was exactly what came to my mind. I had a young female coworker who was into this new wave of true crime Fandom coming in and making all this wild speculation about the hunt and the murders. Didn't have the heart to tell her that all that was going on was due diligence. I would want them to handle things just like this if something happened to someone I love. You're half right, I think. There will be violence from one side or the other (likely both) that will continually escalate until something big is done by the government. Bigger than catching this man and executing him (after a trial). They'll have to crack down on Antifa (even if the guy turns out not to be a member) and the like, maybe start a social media purge of the ones calling for violence.
I do not think there will be selective punishment except by local authorities though.

As someone who watches every episode, I don't see how Walsh's tone changed after the assassination. Ever since he decided to abandon free speech absolutionism and playing fair in favor of doing everything you can to fight back he's been as committed as possible. What do you think this has changed for him?
