If you recall, almost none of Cersei's schemes worked out for her even in the older seasons. All of the Lannister siblings got one aspect of Tywin: Jaime got the physical strength (but almost no brains and had to be manipulated to be ruthless), Tyrion got the brains (but no physical strength and was almost too kind to be ruthless) and Cersei got the ruthlessness (but no strength to stop being forced against her will to do things and no brains to put that ruthlessness to good use).

Anisa is very much the same: Can come up with cruel schemes but they will backfire and less evil options would be more effective.

The difference is that even late season Cersei was 10 times more competent than Anisa, unless the theory I just came up with is true:

Imagine if Anisa was long-gaming the downfall of Ian, maybe she was denied sex or he was busy with other things. If your goal was destroying a persons life as much as humanly possible Anisa would present a pretty decent playbook, and it has been really effective.
