Its very weird that his shirt “aired out” in that manner if it directly struck his neck.

if you watch in slow-motion you can see that an object is travelling towards his neck from beneath his shirt.

It is possible that the built-in AI in newer iPhones is causing the footage to be distorted (I believe this was the case with the ring). However, there is no reason for his shirt to behave in such an unusual manner, as it was already moving a fraction of a second before the entry wound on his neck.

You shouldn't the shooter needs to be made example of. He should be shipped to Guantanamo bay for enhanced interrogation and then executed by firing squad on public TV. Political shootings cannot be allowed to continue.

That's only for rifles bought at retail from an FFL. If it was sold between individuals that's most likely the end of the trail, especially if the person who originally bought it is dead which is very likely the case for this one if I had to guess. It could have been the shooter's grandpa's or even great grandpa's hunting rifle, and there's no guarantee that their grandpa bought it from an FFL

After WW2 there was a massive surplus of undesirable rifles. People would buy these, 'bubba' them, then trade them, sell them, or just give them away when they got bored with them. Up through the 90s and even in the 2000s you could buy 'sporterized' surplus for basically nothing. These rifles were modified from their original military configurations in the hopes of making them more desirable to consumers. Lightweight polymer stocks with recoil pads to make them easier to lug through the woods, modernized optics mounts, ergonomic tweaks like adjusting the throw angles on the bolts, swapping the caliber to more common types, stuff like that

It immediately made me think of my fiance. He's not a public figure or anything but nonetheless I would be devastated if anything ever happened to him. I think that's part of what makes Charlie's death hit so hard. People look at Charlie and they don't really see a big political figure, they see their husband, their son, brother, friend.

Idk if it interfered with the actual investigation. One would think cops would have enough redundancy to cover ornery old coots, but...
