True, but by that logic, why wear anything at all? Just be bare all the time and don't bother ever drawing clothes. It works in nature.
Clothes are easy to draw and put on furries because that whole section is generally the same as humans. Digigrade leg furries require you to come up with the concept of shoes for that type of leg/foot and it will always just look weird.

I guess then this begs the different question of why every furry character is drawn in this way and none of them are given straight human-like legs....

A lot of furry art has straight human-like legs. It's called 'plantigrade'.

In those cases I imagine shoes are drawn less often in an attempt to show off the inhuman paws to balance out how human the legs would look.

This is kind of a gay discussion and I'll accept my puzzle pieces for participating in it, but I'd imagine that's because other than the feet (well, and face, but most people don't regularly wear masks since 2022), the body is the same. I think there's some obvious allowance for "human-like" attire on "human-like" characters, including clothing.

Again I go back to the fantasy analogy. Centaurs/dryads don't wear shoes but they typically do wear some kind of loincloth/underwear and a top if female.

idk about that, there's plenty of plantigrade furry art out there. Yeah, digitigrade is dominant, but it still exists. In fact, at least one artist I follow that draws plantigrade anthros specifically does it because he like to draw shoes. Not even as a fetish thing, he's just one of those people really into buying/selling sneakers and he likes to draw his favorite designs and make his own. (I'll never get the appeal of that subculture, but here I am talking about furry art footwear on Kiwi Farms of all places so I have no room to judge.)

don't a lot of furgots do that tho? I can't remember the last time I saw a full suit with a shirt over top of it.
Eh, suits are different. You're taking a human body and adding multiple layers to it already, then adding a shirt/pants. It looks bulky and dumb.

...Which by the way if you ever see a fursuit that is wearing pants/shorts, well. There's a reason. Don't touch them.

My nigger, they want to fuck cartoon animals. It's not that complicated. They find animal features sexy so they show off animal features. Asking why is pointless. Go get an autism diagnosis.

Stop normalizing the fucking freak ass furfag fursuiters. They are all degenerates who fuck dogs jack off to cartoons dogs and cats and groom children and live a fantasy.. they don’t need any explaining. They are awful people. Oh and you can’t fall for their charities.. it’s all a scam for their zoophile interests

This website is for adults only.

Interesting drama is manifesting over at Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, which is scheduled to happen in a few weeks (early October). For the sake of context: WPAFW is less of a convention and more of a weekend-long outdoor furmeet. It has a hard cap of 500 attendees, and most people spend the day at the outdoor lodge that the con staff rents for the weekend. Regardless, it's been pretty long-running.

One notable thing about their annual traditions is that every year, they pick a featured artist and guest of honor, and if you pay for supersponsor registration, one of the perks is a custom badge drawn by that artist. This year, someone in their infinite wisdom decided it was a good idea to ask HearthFox of all fucking people to be both the 2025 artist and guest of honor.

Why is this a problem? Hearth has been mentioned many, many, many, many times on the Farms before, and has a reputation for being a massive shit-stirrer, constantly picking fights with random people over minor disagreements. If you've ever browsed furry social media and seen one of those headshot icons of people's fursonas wearing Antifa bandanas, you can thank Hearth for drawing them.

This specific example belongs to Lumin City, who already has a thread here. Hearth has drawn dozens, if not hundreds, of these icons.

Reception to featuring Hearth was mixed among attendees, which was not at all helped by the fact that registration prices increased, and supersponsors no longer got the bonus badge commission (without paying an extra fee). This wouldn't be an issue if not for the fact that it went from $250 to $275 (though in WPAFW's defense, the high reg prices are mostly attributed to food costs; this event includes lunch and dinner all three days).

Yesterday, Hearth saw the news about Charlie Kirk's assassination. Like many Bluesky users, Hearth decided that not only was it a good idea to celebrate this event with a bunch of really regrettable posts, but to ramp it up a step further by trying to profit off of his death by shilling more antifa icon commissions.

When people complained that Hearth was trying to profit off a man being assassinated, Hearth proceeded to double down and blatantly admit they were using Charlie's death to make money, all while keeping "GOH @ WPAFW" front and center on their account.

Many furries were rightfully disgusted at Hearth's behavior and wanted WPAFW to remove them from the event immediately, resulting in people contacting WPAFW to complain. The next day, Hearth deleted most of their posts celebrating Charlie's death (but not the posts shilling more Antifa icons) and made a groveling "apology".

WPAFW finally responded a couple of hours later with this. It basically boils down to "Hearth totally apologized, and their views don't represent ours." There's nothing mentioned about removing Hearth, so you can probably tell by the ratio alone that most furries don't seem to be buying this.

They're getting their ass beat in the Quote RTs and replies:

EDIT: I just noticed that WPAFW has three "main" social media presences (Twitter, Telegram, and Bluesky), but WPAFW's response is mentioned only on their Twitter, while Hearth is only active on Bluesky. Very odd that they addressed this on only one account (especially given that Hearth's incident happened on Bluesky and not Twitter).

EDIT 2: Hearth posted this earlier today. This is the kind of person WPAFW is endorsing. At least this quote is a perfect candidate for random.txt

Hearth is a grifter :story: he makes bloody bank off being a fake traumatized furfag who draws stuff for virtue signaling paedos and dogfuckers

All the annoying "antifa" icons are like the demoweasel and s0lardog icons that signal that someone is an obnoxious faggot

WPAFW is notorious for over-serving from their bar, and their leadership is very "we did nothing wrong!" I've heard that they had an attendee that they over-served, and then denied a ride back to his hotel (parking is so limited at the venue that they have shuttles). The attendee was forced to take his bike to get back to the hotel, utterly wasted, and he wrecked on one of the park roads. He was severely injured in the accident, and the event's response was to ban him from the event and every chat they had control of for daring to speak up about the situation. They do not own any of their misbehavior.

I'm also amused by the Who's Who of "Never actually attending this event ever" in the callouts. Peak furry armchair activism.

What a pussy. He should have sued. Dram shop liability. Their subsequent behavior would have aggravated the damages significantly and he could have made out like a bandit.
