Charlie Kirk was shot at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah on Wednesday.

Bystanders report seeing Kirk shot near his neck during a Q&A with students.

A suspect is in custody, according to a UVU alert sent to students. The campus is on lockdown.

Multiple reports currently say Charlie Kirk made it to the hospital and is currently stable but the extent of his injuries and likelihood of recovery isn't currently known. He is in critical condition.

I unfortunately watched the video of him getting shot and would not recommend it, it's as grizzly as you can imagine.

This makes me sad more than anything for Charlie Kirk's family and his kids. He's younger than I am, and it's always a tragedy when people die young, especially when they actually have something to lose. Even more so when they have real stakes, like having a family with young children. I'm saddened but this also pisses me off; and the insanity surrounding politics, it replacing religion for people is why around 2016 or so I just kinda checked out from the news/politics altogether.

While I didn't agree with all of his opinions, I respect that he was willing to sit down and talk with just about anyone who offered. That's what free speech and debate is all about. Condolences to his family, I can't imagine the horror of witnessing that happen to your spouse.

I'm actually seeing this from a few of my more vocally conservative friends. Plenty of thoughts and prayers to the kids, but there's at least a non-zero demographic of republicans whose outrage over the incident is dampened by his vocal support of Israel and downplaying of the Epstein files.

I can’t speak for everyone but in my eyes there are no bad actions only bad targets (my friends are objectively good and my enemies are objectively evil). In that sense I’m not particularly scandalized when the left celebrates the assassination of one of their enemies. I just hope more people wake up from their slumber and realize the friend-enemy distinction before it’s too late.
