This one is going to be controversial: ItsAGundam
I've had a feeling about him for a while now, but I just couldn't put it into words. Recently, I've taken to watching Josh Pescatore, his former producer, and he airs out a lot of dirty laundry between him and Gundam. The TL;DR here is that Pescatore ran a podcast called "Quality Content" and it was relatively successful.
I've seen some ItsAGundam videos over the years, he's a standard PNGtuber, what the fuck does he have a producer for?
He essentially got lucky and got a fan who works in the industry and not just knows how to make money by playing the game, but is willing to put in the work too. Gundam took him for granted and got tired of doing gay shit like "showing up to a podcast for a couple of hours to collect several thousands of dollars in superchats for pretty much no effort" and fired him so he could focus on doing what he likes, like spending more time with vtubers and getting bullied by random women, that includes his art producer(who literally calls herself "Anus").
Late to this, but was pleasantly surprised to see the Gundam/Josh Pescatore breakup from last year discussed.
I did listen to Gundam's Quality Content podcast in 2024 semi-regularly when it was airing. Then one day got curious why I hadn't seen a new episode for months, only to find a YT comment on the final episode that Gundam had pulled the plug on it without a formal announcement and to go check out Pesc's channel for details.
YT Link to 21 Quality Content pod episodes playlist - Looks like the final episode was June 19th, 2024
Josh Pescatore is a behind-the-scenes YT guy who at one point worked for Keemstar at Drama Alert. He's an interesting character himself. He claims he's independently wealthy because his family received a huge settlement from the United Fruit Company (modern day Del Monte?) because they were paying off South American mercenaries protection money who ended up murdering Josh's dad who was doing surveying near their territory.
So Pescatore doesn't work, he dabbles in real estate, lives in Florida, etc.
Pescatore originally met Gundam in the capacity of offering financial advisor advice for his fucked up situation with his family, etc. Somehow this relationship grew into a professional one where Gundam & Pescatore launched a new podcast called Quality Content.
Pescatore did all the behind-the-scenes work as well as appearing as sidekick introducing all the lolcow topics he researched. Gundam did zero show prep and was tasked with simply showing up for 2-3 hours once a week.
Pesc would gather all the lolcow topics, but Gundam was mostly disinterested in his own show. He'd mostly reject the lolcow topics presented, try to rush through the show to get it over with faster, show up high & occasionally pass out live on air pillstream fashion behind his avatar, etc.
They did a few dozen episodes with some decent guests like Kirsche. Pesc revealed later that the show was grossing something like 3-5k/month in superchats. His monthly cut for producing the weekly show was about $800/month.
Supposedly Gundam was completely disinterested in the show itself & ungrateful for the relative overnight success of the superchat monies coming in. The only thing he cared about were the viewership numbers for his podcast that were much lower than old scripted videos. And apparently he was obsessed that his podcast viewership was below some of the other creators in the space that he thought he was better than.
Eventually, Gundam approached Pesc one day in Spring 2024 saying the pod was over & Josh was fired because he wanted the extra $800/mth for himself. He had a tentative proposal to start a new pod with Kirsche with an offer from CecilSays to produce for free, assuming the same revenue would continue and he would pocket the extra $800. No public announcement was made with the old pod ending. I'm assuming the new pod never happened, though I don't follow Gundam anymore to confirm. Edit - Looks like Gundam did start a new podcast called "On the Fringe" running 17 episodes from Nov'24 to Apr'25. Not sure if either Kirsche or CecilSays was involved.
Part of the pressure to claw more revenue is because Gundam is scared to say No to women around him. He gave complete control of his Merch store & proceeds to some peripheral artist Anus who he fears could someday claim IP rights because she at one point contributed art assets to his well-known avatar.
Pescatore did an hours long stream in the Summer of 2024 explaining all the internal strife. But it's not well known because his YT channel is small, it's hours long and it's very niche inside baseball.
Edit: After Content #1 - June 26th, 2024 - 2 1/2 hour stream where Pesc describes the Gundam breakup in detail
Pescatore claimed that he himself was a YT producer genius of sorts given his experience with Keemstar & Gundam. So he started streaming on his own small channel.
But he streamed infrequently to live audiences of 100-200, which dwindled with time as his schedule became more erratic.
He paid some SEA artist 1k to design his own Vtuber avatar. And despite constantly talking about his wealth, he pitched that his small audience over time would have to contribute to purchasing new upgrades to his Vtuber setup. He tended to cover similar trending lolcow topics like DSP, etc.
I did like his solo content, but I also think he got humbled that "Mr. YT producer genius" couldn't pull in a substantive streaming audience on his own. His streaming became more & more erratic. He sometimes would tease a stream then not show up at all. He had endless excuses that he was moving, had taken down his streaming setup, was setting up a new kickass rich boi entertainment room, etc. Then one day about 5 months back, he simply stopped streaming altogether.
Edit: Pescatore Live YT channel - Last stream March 19th, 2025 with under 700 views, 7k subs.
I checked out his X account the other day where he's still alive and posting about lolcow content with essentially no engagement.
