@Null cab in a solo is great don't be dissing my genre like this homie
Modern country sucks so much ass. The genre that used to be the voice of rural and down trodden man, the people who lost the family farm when the bank took it, riding rails to a new town just to find work, dealing with a now disappeared wilderness, has become pop music that wears it's skin. It tells you that it's real country by showing off it's big hat, cowboy boots, and tractors with it's uncanny valley face grinning back at you. The western part has been almost completely abandoned. At one of the last few years' Rose Bowl parade or Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade they had some country artist perform that was black, not that there's anything wrong with that, but the song he did was just some hip-hop song with some fiddle and twang thrown in to justify calling it country. It felt so fake and forced like some idiot Jew in Nashville was tired of going after the typical demographic of country-western listeners, country-western fans, so they tried to get the urban youth interested and thus appealed to nobody. There's a reason why the ginger guy singing in the woods about the rich men north of Richmond took off so unbelievably hard and fast. It was a song that country-western fans have been starving for for years. It's why he was attacked on all sides, music execs offering him millions to drain him dry and the podcaster race upset that he didn't just scream "IT'S THE JEWS" while curb stomping a black man. In the current state of the world I don't know if something like ginger guy will be allowed to happen again nor do I think we'll get anything close to what we once had.
Maybe it's just rose tinted glasses, maybe I'm just getting older and more cynical, maybe I remember the absolute bangers and none of the dreck, but it feels like there's so much sub-mediocrity out there in an attempt to mass produce EVERYTHING that everything just sucks now and I'm tired of digging to find that gold, boss. So I don't do nothing but bitch, here's my favorite country-western song for the group.
As for the cheating part, lol yeah that's always been a staple from both sides.
Since this is a music post, I submit this song for opener or closer if a future MATI focuses on cyberbullying and/or it being made illegal to call someone names.
I had not listened to Purple Onion in about 15 years, threw it in my play list, and had a grand time rediscovering Ding Dang in current year.
