Oh, I almost missed the time of the month when Jason still can't finish his "game". How much work has been done in all this time, I wonder..................
+75 lines of dialogue (18 of which are ...'s only)

Not very fucking much, apparently :story:. Good job, Jason.

Full diff attached. Not much interesting there, unsurprisingly. Most of it is Jason's retarded mega-switch/case, that looks like it could've been a table or some shit.
I'm surprised I managed to snipe it so well, barely more than 250.

Do note, according to Mald's patch notes, that's 18 "routes", so that's an average of a bit more than 4 lines of dialog per route (or a bit more than 3 if we ignore "...")
It's 15.5 words per route on average.
If we take average human typing speed (40 wpm), it would take 7 minutes to type out these words.
There's about a thousand lines of code in the diff, of which
609 are nothing but the megaswitch statement,
152 are just for text and avatar encoding.

Of those remaining
20 lines are related to adding a dialogue effect to Avocado.
1 is a spelling mistake in Brasilian
2 are changing dialog in a test file
23 are related to adding a disintegrate effect to Avocado
40 are for the alarm for Avocado's dialogue
24 are for the event created for Avocado's dialogue
3 are added to trigger Avocado's dialogue when walking somewhere
1 is a fix for Emilio's dialogue
3 update Fern's disintegrate effect
2 update the trigger for the "content ends here, early access" screen
1 changes Rhode's weapon damage from times two on weapon creation, to being set to 2.

That's 120 lines.
Of these, 48 are actual code changes and not dialogue or copy/paste.

So yeah, "75"/(57) lines of dialogue, and 48 original lines of code.
That definitely takes two months, doesn't it, mald?

Clock me if this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find anything from searching the thread.

I've been listening to old Metokur videos lately and happened to look over at my other screen during this episode on the Ashley Madison leaks.

At 16:13, you can see that a jhall@blizzard.com appears in the leak. I haven't been able to confirm that this is Joey Hall, but a birthdate of 1961 would make him 26 when Jason was born - pretty reasonable for a Gen Xer. If you plug the email into haveibeenpwned.com, you do see that it was included in Ashley Madison leaks for the games industry.

Can anyone confirm who this email belongs to?

I have suspicions. Not implying anything weird/cheating happened AT ALL (keep reading), but she's the ex of an extremely close friend of mine who also worked at Blizzard for a very long time. I met this friend after their relationship ended. The breakup situation was sensitive to the point that I couldn't ask anything about it because he was so tilted for years afterward, only catching pieces when he'd (understandably) pop off on occasion. On the timeline, it seems like she got with JoeyRay pretty quickly (sooner than I could imagine doing after a long-term relationship/marriage). This close friend and JoeyRay still talk often and are what I would call close friends to this day, and I don't think that would be the case if the relationship with Rachel started from a bad place while she was still with my close friend. I do, however, think that they likely met due to that pre-existing friendship between the two guys.
That's a pretty ugly coincidence to boing's post earlier.

I also just noticed the Only Fangs tag, Can anyone remember if this guy was related to Jason's WoW arc in any meaningful way? The name does sound familiar. I thought that Jason believed Only Fangs was a hate clan full of haters? Why hang out with someone from that period now?
Nah, dude is a very small streamer who latched onto the wowhc stuff for clout.

He's the only guy who kept in contact with Mald, but dude is so irrelevant that nobody cared about his opinion within the guild.

Sorry, what? Did they included quadriplegics or double amputees in this? I could literally do that with 3 toes (you pick which, but no pictures silly....unless?!?)

You're also not taking into account how long it takes to think of the supremely clever dialogue before typing it out. Although he is a defcon level 19 super security blizzard hacker he's likely thinking far faster than his mere human fingers can move...

Even worse than the (attempted?) adultery, why the fuck would someone use their work email for a dating website? Very questionable behavior to say the least.

There is a mention of Joeyray Hall's September 8, 1961 birthdate only in one place, on Crafting Worlds forum account (archive)
1756478236605.webp
The only message from said account is a launch announcement (archive) of his new company, Kollide Entertainment
1756478540017.webp
Kollide Entertainment was, indeed, founded (archive) by Joeyray and another Blizzard veteran Kevin Caldwell.

Apparently it is, but, nonetheless, if we assume Mald is a decently fast typer (90WPM), that's just over 3 minutes to type this.

Of course you need to come up with dialogue, but does it take that long to come up with basic dialogue where 25% of the entire dialogue is literally "..."

Finally caught up with the past two months. I've seen a few OSRS players put out videos about him playing that aren't archived yet so I will work on that tonight and add them to this post.

Didn't get locals (yt-dlp kept downloading video only and I'm a noob here).

Not sure why they have a repeat clip about tumor ridden ferrets at the start, but this has a couple instances of Mald being trolled as well as Faux and J1mmy making fun of him when they learn he's playing OSRS.

Like this one for putting Mald in game and making fun of him.

J1mmy was in Onlyfangs and explains the Dire Maul incident in OSRS terms. Linked at the story that brought up the topic (1:17:55) but they talk about Mald from 1:20:28 - 1:28:50. Interesting to see the difference between his reaction here and the clip from the compilation above.

Video too large for preservetube and the video is just AFK OSRS gameplay
so no need to archive anything but the relevant audio.

Savix recaps all the MMO incidents. Nothing really new or OSRS related but it's a nice normie friendly compilation of the WoW stuff.

i like how he says 'i've been part of the game industry for 33+ years' rather than 'i've been a game dev for 20 years'

i have a strange sympathy for joey ray in a way that i feel the only big mistake he did was maldy

maybe it's because he's old

EDIT: nevermind i didn't actually read what the talk about his dad was
🗑 oops 🗑

Use yt-dlp -f 'bv+ba/b' and it'll automatically download the best possible audio and video available, no matter the source. If you need to convert it to any other format for whatever reason add "--recode-video (format)" after 'bv+ba/b'. Note that you'll need ffmpeg for that, but it's easy enough to install.
I would preserve videos and locally upload them myself instead of telling people how to do it but for whatever insane reason the audio always disappears after I upload it to KF. That part I have no clue about.
