A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The NHS is a behemoth, bits of it are OK, and most of it isn’t.
I'd say its already collapsed to some degree. It depends what your metric is. If you're measuring it on availability and/or quality of care it is certainly fucked, at least based on what I've seen this year.

My old man has been in and out of hospital from the end of January. Six visits averaging out at about a week's stay each time. None of these would have been necessary had he been able to see a GP. Everything he went through, from an initial fall, to infections in his arm and chest had all stemmed from an initial UTI.

I could quite easily sit here and blame it on the nurses, orderlies and doctors only being able to speak pidgin English and barely being able to hide their contempt when asked questions, but the problem goes way, way deeper than that. The only part of the system which functioned were the paramedics, who were genuine lifesavers. Everything else failed and we're talking fundamental stuff here.

One time when he was admitted to hospital he was "lost" between ambulance assessment and the corridor he was placed onto. No, he didn't get up and start wandering around, he was lost in their system. It was only when I drove to the hospital, found him and then informed the staff of who he was and why he was there was any progress made. To put it into perspective, he had been picked up by the paramedics just before 8am and was "lost" until nearly 12 hours later when I turned up.

On his first visit he was discharged with a catheter fitted and given nothing more than a kit with a couple of spare bags/tubes, no instructions, no aftercare arranged and sat in a soiled adult diaper. Not so hot for a guy who was living on his own and couldn't walk due to just having a serious fall.

I could go on but at every level the system had failed him. From the GP surgery, the walk-in centre, the hospital, the district nurses, the various aftercare departments and even the fucking chemists.

I'd experienced a similar scenario with my mother during COVID which ultimately ended up with her placed in a care home. As angry as it made me at the time, I cut them some slack because of the pressure they were under. But with my old man it was fucking shocking to see how inept they were at every level.

Obviously everyone's mileage may vary, but I don't know a single person that has had to interact with the NHS recently that has a good word to say about them.

The NHS is on its knees for several reasons as are the other systems, but one is the change in ratio of those who put in to those who take out.
A little kiwi told me there's another mass exodus of competent NHS staff, mostly because of the rotten management (I'm sure some already mentioned what type). IIRC they were cut down before earlier this year, a lot of sacking. You're better off private or get things done in another country.
The NHS is one thing I envied about Britain
LOL nothing to be envious about right now. It was good when it worked.

Giving up on the NHS would cause so much chaos and death it would be more costly than keeping it running. It's too built into our country and there's no way to replace it without a drastic 10 year or more plan no one will execute.

If they remove health care from all the migrants it maybe sustainable and able to be cleaned up. There would be a lot less pressure and a lot more money for it, even if most of it would be spent poorly.

Any system we have is going to collapse under the weight of mass immigration and foreign births. Everyone of our systems is designed for a small island nation and mostly worked. If we can get our home back then many of the failing systems will recover and with a bit of fat cutting (a lot of management) could go on to prosper.

They've been inept for a very long time now. How many hours do you sit and wait in A&E so a doctor can check your paper work and say you're fine? Any functional system would have doctors able to get patients in and out as soon as their results are done. Instead you wait 4 hours for an Indian to turn up, mumble no problem and kick you out.

You're better off private or get things done in another country.
Private is clogged up with NHS overflow now. Being able to select your own hospital lets you pick a local private one paid for by the NHS. So that's what everyone does thinking they will get better health care. I tried the same thing and never returned when Abumagumbi Maatuu was the doctor I saw at the private hospital. No fucking way was I going to trust someone like that with my health.

Oh, the student visas will get obliterated. I am surprised even the US has them still. In the States, they are really starting to tighten the screws on Student visa programs because you inherit more problems from them ultimately. Look, what it's got us is a tsunami of Jeets and Pakis, who abuse it, bringing in their families. Going back to uni at an older age really disillusioned me about what a fucking disgusting industry it is. The natives get fuck all, and the foreigners get treated like children. The amount of cheating I saw committed by Arabs was insane and not reported on. They used to fake sign in to trick their visa agreements, and no senior lecturer acted on it. Technically, this is a punishable offense as they are abusing their visa conditions, and this was about 50 out of 200 class.

Russell Groups are feeling it massively and good; they are corrupt. They have had to do a bunch of redundancies and with the decline in our society, a lot of the higher trust countries like China (rich), Japan, South Korea are not coming, which is beating their accounts.

As for the NHS staff, yes, a ton of competent staff are leaving. A lot of nurses came out of retirement for covid, and their bonus to come back is about to end. The new nurses are taking a lot less after tax, about 23k. They're seeing it as a waste and ditching nursing completely. They're not even emigrating now, just flat out leaving. The same is happening with pharmacists, but a lot of the new grads are leaving the country to get away from Pakis.

Part of the problem is that the UK began to treat higher education as an industry rather than the educational institution that it should be. Universities are incentivised to keep foreign students coming, as they pay the lion's share of their tuitions, as the government cap of £9,250 is unprofitable for them — why this is is another matter altogether, admin bloat, overspending etc... — leading to the lowering of English level entry requirements, overlooking of certain behaviours, grade inflation, and a watering down of the value of the degree. This has reached a critical point now where Universities are almost entirely reliant on foreign students to remain profitable, and this is not even mentioning the many mickey mouse universities set-up to milk foreign students of cash in exchange for worthless degrees. Overall, it's not necessarily a bad thing to export education to other nations, as it is a profitable venture all in all and keeps many people employed, but where it is a problem is the permissive attitude of these institutions to the aforementioned problems.

Also, please elaborate on this, as as far as I know you can't do any of these things on a Student Visa and you may have gotten your Visa Schemes muddled.
Look, what it's got us is a tsunami of Jeets and Pakis, who abuse it, bringing in their families.

I also suspect we have at least one reasonably senior political figure in here, as well as the apparatchik level aligned with a specific party. I have suspicions, but who knows, maybe I’m wrong
You got me.
Did I reference the isle of sheppy when I was pissed? Anyway I don’t regret moving the Monster Raving Looney Party to Belper, the Peak District is fuckin beautiful this time of year and I love chucking pigs heads into the river before those crossing stones all the egg cartons worship over in Dovedale.

@Muad'Dick: if your Dad has had UTIs and they've left a cath in him, they are trying to kill him off.

Seriously. From what you've described he's one visit away from being Liverpool Care Pathwayd.

You've always had a baseline of incompetence with the NHS but fuck me is it in sharp decline.

My neighbour is one of the receptionists (you know, the ones that actually run the show) at the local medical centre. She's a lifer. Been there for over 30 years. Some of the tales she's told me about how the place is run and some of the fuck ups that have happened recently is nuts.

You're not wrong about going private either. I think you just pay a premium to jump the queue and get more options on the menu if you're an inpatient. I had to have a heart op just before my 40th (thanks for the misdiagnosis 20 years ago NHS) and I went private. My consultant (and guy who did my op) was the head cardiologist at the local hospital too. I mean, good on you if you can feed from two troughs at once, but something about that just seems wrong to me. Especially when you're talking about socialised healthcare.

@BongoMongo I know. I only found out after the fact after speaking to a district nurse. She said it was probably the reason he was having recurring infections. This is what you're up against.

Don't tell anyone, but there's not actually any such thing as "international law". Say we were to round up every last Boriswaver tomorrow and kick them out of Herky birds on parachute equipped pallets over Africa, which international police would stop us?

Acceptance of the detritus of the third world is absolutely a positive choice of the political class for the last 40 years, but it needn't be.

I think if anything you might see some nations calling our Bummer In Chief for tips. We could even turn a profit out of it. The waste management business shouldn't be the sole preserve of Italian Americans.
What is needed is some bold individuals embedded in the civil service willing to ask "why?". Why must we accept the immigrants? Why must we feed them? Why must we shelter them? Why must we allow them to roam our green and pleasant land?

There is no possible convincing response to any of these that isn't "send the buggers back", but the people who make these calls haven't yet had their noses rubbed in the consequences of their actions. Insha'Allah the people of Islington will be made familiar with the consequences of their decisions.

What they do obscure is that they're a sister organisation of Unite against Fascism, a socialist organisation meant to counter the right lead by prominent Muslims, union leaders, and Labour politicians like Diane Abbot. The counter-protestors are also likely composed of trade union members, actual socialists, Muslims, students, and naïve people I.E. exactly who you'd expect.
I have acquaintances in Falkirk, where a protest was held last week. Two of them are members of a large healthcare union, one is in a teaching union. All three received emails roughly two weeks prior to the protest requesting their presence to "show solidarity to the migrants against the far right Nazis" (paraphrased).
I advised them to cancel their memberships, and explain exactly why.
Reminder that Falkirk was where a migrant raped a 15 year old girl, yet they still defend them.
On the day a migrant exposed himself at the hotel window and was arrested for indecent exposure, but counterprotestor started rumours on social media that it was a protestor to protect him.
These people think they are being kind. They think they are saviours. They are only counterprotesting because they're not the ones in the council estates right next to the muzzies. Their daughters aren't affected.
Yet.

>Muslims stalk 12-year-old girl in Dundee, speak English to them on video
>slightly older Scottish girl brandishes a knife and an axe, tells Muslims to fuck off
>slightly older Scottish girl arrested, no LOICENSE
>Muslims tell police they can't speak English
>police believe it even though the Muslims speak English in video being used to prosecute Scottish girl

What did the constabulary mean by this?

You will know them by their fruits.

I’m posting another reminder that if you’re a member of a union you’re funding the destruction of this country.

You having a hard time at work? Get a new job, retard. Unions won’t help you.

The idea that the UK invented globalism; and benefited from it, so therefore we cannot possibly control immigration is fundamentally retarded. The UK did not 'invent' globalisation, we did not pioneer it either. The UK was plugged aggressively into globalism in the early 1980s largely against peoples will. It's carries with it the unspoken accusation that because we somehow benefit from a process, we are obliged take on the vast negatives of that process when it may no longer benefit us.

We don't need to accept shit, we don't owe the infinite mud of the earth anything. We could round up them all tomorrow, and bulldoze them into barded wire ditches, and they should fucking well thank us for the privilege of being buried in Englands fair soil. We can unplug ourselves from the tide of mass migration, because the tide brings nothing of value. The "people" coming here, do not bring anything that can benefit us, they are a drain and a cyst that prevents us from actually training our own people, from benefiting our own people, from assisting our own people.

That is the only thing that mass migration bring us, excuses to disenfranchise, undercut and damage our own people so that we can benefit a small fragment of the population who rely on the holographic nature of our economy; that requires us to squeeze an ever expanding river of blood from our stone of a country.

If anyone wants to know, here's who I'm pretty sure is behind the account:

I've never met anyone worthwhile from Welwyn Garden City. He'll deny it since I believe he's currently pretending to be a lesbian in DMs.

Get a new job, retard. Unions won’t help you.
This, I like. People who belong to a union are always the most helpless people on the planet because they want more money, it's so pathetic.

Imagine the kind of person you'd need to be to spend 3 years and all of your free weekends standing outside the place you work with signs. All of it for a 3p pay rise after 3 years?
