Anyone knows where I can get some sound effects?
I don't know if it'll be of any use depending on the type of game you're making, but I found this thing called Chiptone while I was looking for something to make music with. It was useless for music but it's pretty good for generating random sound effects you can tweak until you get what you want.

If you don't already have any audio editing software, GoldWave is free and relatively easy to use to edit and alter SFX once you've made them.

Anyone knows where I can get some sound effects?

I would need a footstep sfx. A jump sound. A bark. A throwing swoosh. Amd an impact sound. Games almost done, but it has no sounds whatsoever, so help a fellow kiwi out
Try Pixabay or Myinstants. Both sites offer a variety of sound effects.

I need help hosting my HTML game.

I was gonna dump it on Itch.io under my throwaway. But I can't log in due to being away from my old computer and I can't get at my old computer until after the deadline, I dont want to jump through hoops making another "valid" email (itch don't let you use cock.li or any alt mail providers. I need anyone who can host static HTML and a JS file, it's a game made with Phaser.
I have a gitgud site: https://lash.gitgud.site/
If you want I'll host them for you on there, or you can make your own gitgud site. They have a similar TOS to the farms (content has to be legal in the US), and the +NIGGER stuff is on there.

I've got a folder of crumbs that might contain some of those effects. I made these with famisynth2, love this lil program like you wouldn't believe.

edit

like half of these are small beeps, scrolling, 'select' noises for like a pause menu, inventory or something like that.

Have we reached a consensus on if we're extending the submission deadline or not in light of KingCobra passing? I'd like to know officially so I can scale up/down appropriately.

@Orphaned Punk my game is tiny and runs in a web browser. If my link is from itch.io, can I drop it here and forget about it as submission or does it need to be in a DM?

Aww man, I only saw this thread today. Have a half-finished game already but probably no time to finish it in the next 1-2 weeks. Good luck to the participants, I'll be in on the next one!

On top of all the other answers, I'll add sfxr. It's great for rapidly generating random 8 bit sounds then tweaking them. You can click a category on the left like Powerup a few times, to generate a starter sound that is close to an "average" sound for the category. Then mod and save whatever sounds good.

There's an online version here, which seems to have most of the offline functionality. Itch.io also has a bunch of other ports but I haven't tried them all.

1/2 is infinitely more than 0.

To everyone participating:

I'd like to get little statements from you all about being in the Game Jam, just a short paragraph to go with your submission.

I want brainful statements so I'm giving you lots of time to mull about it, especially with the new time extension.

I want to continue the theme of the dev interview from the KFDoom2 video about seeing KF as a potential place to foster an uncensored videogame enthusiast community.

I wanna hear about things like:

- Why game design appeals to you
- How you motivated yourself to actually give it a go
- Why you chose the engine/languages/etc you went with for this year's Jam
- Unexpected shit you had to deal with and how you dealt with it
- What brings you to the Farms
- What your submission took inspiration from, whether it's forum-related or not
- Kino shit you love in videogames
- Etc.

If you post a wall of text, I will edit it down. Shitpost statements may make the cut if I think they're funny or still have a nugget of wisdom.

I've never used KF's DM feature honestly I dont even know where to find it and have never looked so either post it on my profile wall or @ me here in the thread: make sure to be very clear which project was yours, because both for spoilers and for personal tism reasons I'm not going to read them until after I've played every submission I can. In situations like this, I like to form my own ideas first before I then go and look at what the author or other people have said.

No guarantees when the video will be done, but I will make it my main priority once I've finished the SEGA Strike Trilogy video, or put it on pause like I did with the Metroid Pairing video for KFD2
