From The Hill: "Candida auris cases nearly triple as deadly fungus spreads to new states" (Source/Archive not working)

(NEXSTAR) – The number of Candida auris infections reported to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention this year has nearly tripled in the past three and a half months as health care providers struggle to contain the the drug-resistant and deadly fungus.

At the end of April, the CDC had recorded 1,052 Candida auris. By Aug. 9, the last week of available data, the total number of cases had grown to 2,809 cases across 21 states, surpassing the number of cases we saw at this time last year.

Candida auris, also called C. auris, was first identified in the U.S. fewer than 10 years ago. Since then, the number of cases have increased every year. The CDC has considered the fungus “an urgent antimicrobial resistance threat” because it has developed ways to defeat the drugs that are designed to kill it.
Fungus labeled ‘urgent threat’ by CDC is spreading rapidly, hospital study finds

In the past three months, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee recorded their first cases, joining 17 other states that were already tracking the fungus’ spread in 2025.

Of the roughly 2,800 cases reported so far this year, about a quarter (or 727 cases) were in Texas alone.

Some of the biggest spread was in the Midwest, where cases in a handful of states more than doubled since April. Illinois reported 362 cases, Michigan reported 342, Ohio had 291 and Indiana had 164.

Candida auris can be hard or impossible to be treat because antifungal medications aren’t effective.

“If you get infected with this pathogen that’s resistant to any treatment, there’s no treatment we can give you to help combat it. You’re all on your own,” Melissa Nolan, an assistant professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of South Carolina, told Nexstar.

People with a healthy immune system may be able to fight off infection on their own, but the fungus mainly spreads in health care settings, where people are sick and vulnerable.

The fungus can survive on surfaces, like countertops, doorknobs, or even people’s skin, for a long time before spreading to vulnerable patients. People with catheters, breathing tubes, feeding tubes and PICC lines are at the highest risk because the pathogen can enter the body through these types of devices.

A study published last month, which looked at patients with Candida auris primarily in Nevada and Florida, found more than half of patients required admission to the intensive care unit and more than one-third needed mechanical ventilation. More than half of patients, whose average age was between 60 and 64, also needed a blood transfusion.

In the past, the CDC estimated that “based on information from a limited number of patients, 30–60% of people with C. auris infections have died. However, many of these people had other serious illnesses that also increased their risk of death.”
So where are we getting all these C. auris cases from?

It's not really talked about, but a huge impact of mass and illegal immigration in the US (and other European countries) is the importation of diseases. Mass and illegal immigration are public health concerns. This was well-understood more than 100 years ago and is why immigrants were forced to isolate on islands before they could come into the country.

Most of the C. auris cases in the US are in Texas so far. I wonder why there's a cluster there? Hmm... well, our public health "experts" aren't curious.

Congressman Chip Roy is ending his time in congress to run for Texas AG since Paxton is running for senate. Roy has been a Massie level meatball fag who talks tough but doesn't do much because no true scotsman, and Paxton's already got someone from his staff running for AG who he picked.

Back in the day, a SomethingAwful goon named Caro went to Syria with a rifle to make war on the Syrian government. He was captured, held, and eventually released once they realized that he really was just a schizophrenic idiot and not a spook. Our enemies behave better than our allies...
Kind of burying the lead with this one, Caro was in a Syria prison for something like 18 months until some one West adjacent went in and ask "Why is his white guy here".

It's such a flex to use their own shit against them. I haven't watched south park in awhile, and i just assumed that wasn't edited at all. After kristi noem got upset, and decided to roll with it, the trump admin mostly handled it well. vance even sort of flipped it back "I have made it".

When was the last time that south park has even been mentioned? couple weeks right?

His wife was ukrainian, his kid was half ukrainian. Who are you to decide who is a journalist and who isn't? And i wasn't aware pneumonia was a heart condition. Did you get a single bit of it right, you dishonest cunt.
People with heart conditions (I'm not sure what the specifics of CRP's condition were, but I'd assume CHF just looking at him) are very vulnerable to respiratory infections. In fact, CHF presents as respiratory symptoms and usually kills via pulmonary edema instead of a sudden cardiac arrest or infarct.

That being said, I agree with you that Coach being a journalist is dependent on him deciding he's a journalist. Other people don't get to decide that.

He was a fat dumb invalid who would have died from a stiff breeze, but I'll at least call him a journalist.

Actual news, the bullshit NY case got thrown out by appeals:
(Archiving as we speak)

This case smelled like horseshit the second it got brought up, charges of "we think you did something wrong" without actually proving the crime itself reeks of corruption.
I like how the Court is so so bitter and malding in their decision. "Oh, the brave KWEEN was totally right to bring this action and the judge was a saint but there was an oopsie with the numbers!" Get fucked, lawfags.

I like how he calls out the rest of the court for being TDS addled faggots that can't make unbiased determinations of law due to terminal TDS:

I don't know if Trump will try to take it to the Supremes, but he should, just to make New York feel even more humiliated.

The true, learned racist knows that the deepest cutting slur for any asian is calling them a countryman of the country their country hates. Like calling a Cambodian a Vietnamese.
You get an achievement if you can goad a Japanese guy a Korean guy and a Chinaman into fighting eachother while they forget that you're the one that provoked the incident.

the disgusting thing was the US not doing anything for a citizen
Dude refused to leave Ukraine until the screws were put on him, he kept talking about how much he hated America and how all Ukrainian women were whores and he was literally agitating in favour of Russia while Russia was invading the country.

He deserved what he got. Especially if he thought he was a "journalist," since all journalists deserve DOTR.

Okay, I did it. After weakly throwing punches and rolling around on the ground for near 10 minutes they've both retreated, caught, butchered, cooked and eaten two separate dogs and are now gearing up for round 2.

Is the achievement on the way?

Coach was a retard, but the disgusting thing was the US not doing anything for a citizen. They likely could’ve gotten CRP on a plane to the US and put him in jail for a year or so for crimes against an ally/ puppet state.

There are a few cow-ish individuals who’ve had similar things happen, like that Afghanistan Zoomer who was thought dead for months and was imprisoned with special forces and glowie aligned doctors. Lord Miles(?) I think his name was. Basically responded that the government left him out to dry by refusing to negotiate unless the Taliban did heckin trans rights and women’s rights. Mind you the Taliban was trying to develop relations and basically was willing to hand people back without stipulation, the UK gov’t said no.

I don’t think CRP is a martyr for journalists, as much as he is for the average retard. The government ought to try to wrangle their tards in foreign countries if they can. The US has done this for centuries. It’s not that he was a retard, it’s that he could’ve easily been given back rather than dying in a prison.

I wish Gehenna was still here because the entire thing was a retarded failure of diplomacy with an ally.
I am positive the State Dept told Coach to shut up and/or GTFO of Ukraine and he just gleefully told them to fuck off like he did everyone else. There's only so much they can do. It's not the government's responsibility to save you from yourself. Would you expect Seal Team Six to come rescue you from prison if the circumstances were the same?

CRP being a "martyr" casts doubt upon the entire concept of martyrdom. I'm not so sure about these people.
Getting eaten by lions or crucified upside down brings much more dignity to needless death than dying of pneumonia in a cell because you were constitutionally incapable to cease calling for the downfall and annexation of the nation you are a guest of.

You know, guys, the more you feed the troll the bigger he gets. Nothing would be funnier than the Hulkster chumming the thread over and over and getting nothing.

It is patently obvious that he will never get punished, so leave him alone and he'll go away.
