Tangentially, I don't think they're sealed because decisions of a jury are meant to be private. This is talking about unsealing testimony, not jury deliberation. They're sealed because grand jury testimony is fundamentally different in just about every way compared to testimony in open court. You don't get your lawyers there. You don't get to refuse hypotheticals or speculation. Your only option is answer or plead the fifth and I'm pretty sure even then they are allowed to take you pleading the fifth as indication of guilt.

There are good reasons we keep grand jury testimony sealed, but unsealing it isn't some insurmountable process.

- Bill introduced, filed with the House - Day 1 of special session
- Bill read on house floor, referred to Committee for review - Day 2 of special session
- Bill reviewed by committee to ensure it does what it says on the tin, voted on by committee, read a second time on House floor - Day 3 of special session
- Bill debated on the House floor, chance for amendments to be made, voted on if there are no changes. Day 4 of special session, they are debating it right now.

Representative Democracy being fucking slow is a feature not a bug and as frustrating as that can be, trying to say them taking only 4 days to pass a gerrymandering bill is too slow is retarded. This is the kind of bill that politicians will fight tooth and nail over, but it's going to pass about as fast as you could hope for.
