Why is Katie implying the Kiwi Farms harassed Mikayla Raines?

"Anyone with that many followers is just going to get some trolls, they're going to get some haters. There were posts on Kiwi Farms about her and a subreddit. The subreddit is now gone. It was called Save a Fox Snark, where people made fun of her."

Before her suicide, as far as I can see, Raines or Save a Fox were only mentioned a couple times in the Animal Rescue Megathread back in 2022. Certainly no one here was bullying her. What were people saying in the thread about her suicide?

She didn't love animals, she hoarded them. She did not run a rescue and did not decrease the number of foxes being harmed by shitty fur farms. I can understand why a puppy mill owner (Katie) would think otherwise, though.

To be fair to Katie, she was clear about the nature of the situation, in that both the farms and snark subreddits talk about someone, not necessarily harassment (which requires contact and this is a nuance that most journalists bitching about the farms fail to mention).

That being said, I was wondering the same thing. Like I remember the giant thread about her death, but I wasn't aware of much discussion before. Like I hadn't heard of the bitch before she keeled over.

I looked and saw the same thing you did. A handful of mentions until she died.

It makes me wonder if Katie got secondhand info that the farms talked about her and assumed she had some massive thread and didn't bother to look into it herself.

Which if that's what happened, that's a shame. Ordinarily Katie and Jesse tend to be decently fair and accurate when talking about the farms. (Mostly anyway, I think I do remember them making the occasional factual mistake about the farms, even if they're trying to be fair.)

Does Katie think the phrase is "fully clothes"? I swear, she said it three times while describing the guy who went into the water fully-clothed.

Americans/Canadians are really bad with "clothes/cloths", as well as "bathes/baths", which is due to some North American issues with literacy that I could not explain due to that not being my field of employment, so I'm guessing she's only ever heard the phrase "fully clothed" and is repeating exactly how it sounded to her.

It continually shocks me how unfamiliar with language she and Jesse are. These two are professional writers.
To be fair, speaking and writing are two different skills, and there's no spellcheck for the spoken word. That said, it's kind of crazy that she still trips over her words as often as she does given that she's been a podcast host for five years now. I think there's some credence to the theory that she's dyslexic.

I'm not sure what the hell happened with this, to be honest. If I were to be charitable, I'd say that "Jessica the 80s Baby" did most of the research for this one. I honestly cringe at the idea of Katie asking Mikayla's bereft mother about Kiwifarms, and then being surprised that she didn't know what it was. Mikayla wasn't discussed here until after she died, Katie, that's why! Also it was aggravating to hear Katie characterize the fence problems as "allegations" when Mikayla herself literally admitted there was a problem and personally posted about the associated casualties. Some of the allegations were hearsay, but a lot of them were not.

Before she died, there was a thread on Lolcow.farm where she was one of the major subjects, but it wasn't solely about her and the thread wasn't super active.

In light of these two doing nothing of note, Trace today made a characteristically overly long Substack post about how he's trying to have a kid via surrogate. I guess starting up a think tank while clerking and being a full time law student was leaving some gaps in his schedule?

I know many kiwibros like Trace but around furries, always worry. It's a matter of when, not if.
I am not one of those people that see paedophiles everywhere - find that excruciating actually - but it's obvious to me that furrydom is at best sublimated paedophilia. These guys don't dress as animals, they dress as toys kids sleep with.

Surrogacy is garbage and shouldn't be allowed. If he wants a child, he should adopt.

To be fair he does go into that in his Substack post and says he would be open to it. The issue is that infant adoptions are extremely hard to get picked for unless you have a lot of money and connections (see Millie Bobby Brown) or it's a private closed adoption (e.g., both families already know each other). The only other option is through foster care and that's really an entirely different thing.
