The house being renovated is still the current Google Maps Street View image for the house labeled October 2024 (there are photos for 2024, 2019, 2014, 2011, and 2007 available as well on Street View). Looking at that reminded me that the prior home owners got a permit and tax credit when they did their renovation in 2017-2018. The permit likely because they modified electrical. If Zillow is telling the truth and Anisa's/Ian's renovation included screwing with A/C and water they absolutely needed a permit as well. If they new buyers home insurance company catches the lack of permit they will likely use it as an excuse to deny any claim related. What is also funny is they brilliant couple missed a possible $30k in tax credit courtesy of a home improvement tax exemption (explained below with added funny of a quick RoI on their jaunt into home ownership).

All of this must have been done BEFORE completion of the construction or remodel. So way to go them that is a possible (pending county assessment of improvements) $30k property tax credit down the tube. Ian and Anisa have paid a total of $21,071.69 in property tax since buying the home. A payment of $3,964.63 is due October 31st, 2025. Likely only this last payment and the one before it would have been able to have said $30k credit applied. Still mind blowing the state of Seattle where hovels like this go for $1m their 0.06 acres alone is appraised at $321k for tax purposes making one acre of land in that area of Seattle worth $5.35m.

This venture into home ownership is a minimum $190k loss. Renovation for $90k (which failed to add any value to the home), $50k in lowering the sale value (likely to go lower), and also the $50k the realtor will take as a 5% commission at sale. The main take away from this:
It would have been more cost effective to rent somewhere for up to $4,871.80 per month rather than have bought the home.

For why the house is somewhat famous if you don't know watch this its good enough summary but Danzig sold his house at some point in the last 10 years and there are a lot of pictures floating around from people who did inspections on it and it's exactly what you would think Danzigs house looked like. It's still very famous for people taking pictures infront of.
