So this thing keeps happening, where older (like in their 40s-50s) men have started to more aggressively approach me. Before opening my mouth I pass most of the time, and the times this has happened I passed specially well. Before transitioning I did get unwanted male attention, and I thought that when I started passing it would stop.
Now though, I'm getting these much much older men trying to start random conversations or asking for a lighter when they don't even have a cigarette, being very flirty and just, icky. I'm saying icky cause I'm 20 and although im told that i look intimidating, I also look young, probably younger than my actual age.
I guess this is creeping me out cause I wasn't aware of the creepy guy problem happening to young guys in this very similar way (like publicly and outwardly). It makes sense cause creepy people will be everywhere, but it feels so weird experiencing this same type of things as a guy.

And many in the comments are saying the same thing, one was 12 when she found out how pedos are towards boys.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. And thank you for posting it. The fact these things also happen to young men is so often ignored, which only helps predators.
One of the first times I 'pretended to be a boy' online I was like 12. I was used to being approached by creeps in chatrooms, it came with the territory. I'm an American just for context. The predatory age gap problem is quite noticable and considered normal depending on what part of the gay community you land in. Men and boys are both expected to be more sexual, and the concept of sexual victimization is less applied unless you're a kid molested by a man. You're expected to like it, physically fight, or shut up in a way that's very different than even those same expectations on women.
This still is the case when women sexually harass you, except you can't fight lol. I hear it happens a lot in gay bars that allow bachelorette parties or a lot of straight women in. Waiters too, usually older white women. People are way more alike than societally acceptable notions, and statistics, will admit. I could go into this but I've already deleted like three paragraphs, and this isn't about that.
Basically, it's genuinely not weird that this is happening while you pass. You've just been taught that this doesn't happen to men when tldr there's an unspoken and buried epidemic of it. Don't hesitate to speak up about these things, whether with a professional or otherwise. You'll be horribly surprised about how practicing radical acceptance and transparency, and code switching, will reveal large populations of "nontraditional survivors" who share the same experiences. Whether they're admitting it or not.

I think sometimes our understanding of mental health, even with things like autism, is ill served by not understanding the brain as fundamentally computational in nature.

There was just a study somewhere, phoneposting so can't find right now, about there being 4 different autism types related to distinct de novo mutation patterns, with social deficits but otherwise cognitively competent being one of the clusters identified. I've seen other stuff that links things like what used to be called Aspergers to ultimately small but determinative cognitive differences in symbolic and linguistic processing, so it makes me think that the integrative structures of the brain that are supposed to do things like taken in a face and code emotions, or assess things like aesthetics, have small differences in developmental trajectories from the baseline that can lead to highly divergent outcomes.

You look at troons with high IQs but low social skills, and I often wonder if all this is related to something more like an "emotional dyslexia" or "meaning dyslexia", which is why you see so many different adaptation strategies of various effectiveness, like with actual dyslexia. So maybe less a global impairment and more like specific differences in certain algorithmic circuit runs, that have predictable failure states (trooning out). Probably with a dash of inhibitory control issues like you see in OCD patients, in their CSTC salience circuits.

Edit: Reason I think this is because with dyslexia, the issue is not actually general language problems, its a deceptively small number of grapheme-phoneme mapping errors that forces a dyslexic reader to switch from the more fluent innate decoding the brain has to slower, effortful compensation. It’s not that they can’t understand text, it’s that the automatic subroutine that’s supposed to make the process cheap and reliable is noisy. So if troons have extra noise in the subroutines that generate things like self-concept, erotic stimulation, and emotional valence, it could lead to the very weird and variant outcomes we see as they struggle to effortfully compensate for those prediction errors in the brain.

Yes, some trans women (and other trans people but this is mtf) have distorted views of themselves. Body dysmorphic disorder and other ED-related thoughts and behaviours are very common in trans people, and a huge number of us have cripplingly low self-esteem (hi it me). If someone passes in a photo but they don't believe you when you say it, that's possibly what's going on.

We also need to acknowledge that some trans communities will be overly nice and tell someone they pass when they do not, or even just have comment balances that will lead to opinions not reflective of reality - e.g. if someone is on the 'cusp' of passing (and passing is situational and not binary anyway), people who think they pass will probably be more likely to comment than people who think they don't, because most people don't want to hurt someone's feelings. And these issues can lead someone to believe that any compliments are untrue.

Finally, someone being dysphoric, even if you think they 'pass' better than you, doesn't mean that they hate you. Dysphoria is individual and not always rational - I think that my brow and voice stop me from passing, but my close friend says she has a similar voice and brow, and yet passes perfectly. Me being dysphoric doesn't mean that I think she doesn't pass, or is worth less?

Basically, please stop kicking the women who are really upset, even if you do think they pass - they don't hate you.

Yea women do indeed feel fat when they're thin or think they're ugly when they're not. What do we do to those women though? For one we send the anorexics to hospitals and institutions. So I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning as i hadn’t been in a long time admittedly. There’s also been some “noticeable plaque” on my bottom teeth that I wanted off. I go to the dentist and she tells me that the teeth with plaque aren’t actually plaque and are demineralizing? They know I’m trans and on hormones so I ask if it’s a possibility it due to the hormones and they say PROBABLY??? It’s right at the bottom of my bottom front teeth and they say if it gets worse they’ll have to remove my teeth.

Doubtful it's just hormones, but medication in general and I think hormones specifically do often cause dry mouth which changes the ph level in your mouth. So if she eats/drinks high acid foods or drinks or has other oral hygiene issues, maybe hormones tipped her over the edge?
