I can't think of any reason she would have. Yes, standard inpatient is 30 days, but if you recall Nick's speedrun of his court-ordered outpatient*, I don't think there's any respect for or sense of need in that household for it. I do not see Kayla striking out on her own, though I recognize I come to that with an overall negative impression of her generally. But my view of her aside, I don't see acknowledgement of "a problem" being part of their life.I've been curious about this too. We know from Aaron that they met up a couple weeks before the arrest and she told him that she wanted to get help. Without scrubbing through the archives, this is the 2024 Kayla sightings that I recall:
My point: she may have done rehab. Even inpatient is possible in the Aug-Sept timing while April entertained Nick. For the sake of the kids, I like to think that currently she's being the functional parent. I'll take the rainbow reactions.
- May - Arrest
- June - Present for CPS hearing
- July - Tat convention with April and Nick. Also, that's probably when that pic was taken with Eyeliner Nick.
- Aug. & Sept. - No signs of life from Kayla, IIRC
- Oct. - Her voice is heard on one of his Locals streams + kids were returned
- Nov. - Keanu reports that there was a fight about Nick missing a drug test. Specifically, Kayla yelled at him. Nick, in turn, screamed at April.
* and a proper intensive outpatient program runs 6-8 weeks minimum, going 3 days/ week, 3 hours/ day, plus some 1:1 counseling, plus at least an initial doctor consult - and then IF you're ready to move to the second phase and beyond, the frequency/ duration decreases incrementally.
All that said, I could imagine a scenario in which Nick said "you - but not I - have a problem."
