You are absolutely on the money. On his Facebook, he made a post talking about his first professional gig on January 13, 2015.
No, the big deal is that he consistently postures as being better than other people by pretending sometimes to be an engineer, sometimes to work in the film and tv industry, sometimes to be a cybersecurity professional, sometimes to be a professional daytrader, sometimes to be the owner of multiple 7/11s, and sometimes just pretending that he's not Internet people and works a 9 to 5. What he does is immoral, but for the most part it's not in a conniving way or in a way that really benefits him, he's just really pathetic and embarrassed to be a professional Youtuber. It's the same reason why he postures about his level of wealth, and his level of supposed poverty earlier in life, and the same reason why he said he gave a homeless man 130 (Canadian) dollars, and the same reason he said he never writes charitable donations off on his taxes.

Not to mention, his expertise in cybersecurity has been a big part of his online persona for a decade. A regular fixture on his channel was dark web and cybersecurity videos and he would constantly harp about his expertise on cybersecurity.
Some advice, when clipping videos, it's best to download the highest quality version available, and then export it in a lower resolution like 480p unless visual clarity is super important. This helps the KF servers deliver the video at a reasonable pace and decreases upload time.

He got his first "real" one in January 2015, but his most watched video ever was in August 2015, which helped his channel grow a lot. He must have been on the gig grind for only a few months before going all in on youtube.
People try to cite STEM; and I cut it down to Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics. People point out me having a Master's Degree; yeah, I got it because it makes me look prettier on paper, not because it validates any sort of skill, and there are corporations out there, think government contractors, who love being able to quote "X-Number of our employees have their Associates, Y-Number has their Bachelors, Z-Number has their Masters, etc etc." If you want to go to college; it better be to build bridges, aircraft, or find a way to make something 0 calories while tasting exactly like normal Dr. Pepper. If you want to do computers, buy books, self study, get a mentor, accidently break shit then learn how you fixed it; test into and take advanced maths if needed, but that's the most you should be doing.
I still stalk GameFaqs, and some of the funniest things ever are people, pretty much asking how to make their own cheats / alter saves. I tell them to get a memory reader/analyzer and to start poking around and seeing what values change as you change things, that unless someone has an exact answer (and they don't) it's gonna be a bunch of self discovery, and you'll probably corrupt your game/save doing so, good luck.
