Not being tech-savvy enough to host your AI chatbot on your computer has its consequences, and this is the price they are paying for it.

What a miserable existence. Being in love with an language model, a thing that does nothing more than predict words based on previous inputs, only to miraculously pretend to be your partner. And now imagine putting yourself in such a situation where a faceless company can decide the fate of your "boyfriend." People like this might as well dig themselves a grave.

Thing is, I agree that OpenAI tried something shitty here, forcibly retiring all their older products in an effort to force the use of a new one. (I have come to hate it when companies do that shit. If people are paying for a product, they don't want that product replaced with something drastically different overnight!)

I just wish the "bring back the older models" conversation wasn't so dominated by people who thought 4o was their boyfriend.

Men are generally more interested in STEM and have a higher rate of autism. Combine the two, add some willpower, and you get people like them.

If you're interested in the DIY part, people genuinely use that altchan board for that—it has threads literally made for building robots. There are also plenty of resources online for robotics and AI development you can do at home.

Here are a few short videos from that turboautist's YouTube channel I mentioned. He also made longer videos on building it.

We will definitely have a robophilia thread in 10 years if not less.
