Civil war era cameras could only capture images if the subject stayed stationary for a long time, like 10 seconds. The cameras were also very large and took a lot of setup. So this would not be possible unless they could get the soldiers on both sides to stay perfectly still for 10 seconds.

Dude, no photographer in their right mind would want to try and take photos while an artillery bombardment is going on, or an exchange of rifled musket fire is happening. That and like the guy you're replying to already stated, cameras at the time did not photograph movement well at all.

Studs I know you're a retard so I'll help you out by posting a photo of the Battle of Sedan during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870. Battles at the time were incredibly kinetic and the cameras weren't advanced at all as others pointed out. This particular photo is the first captured in history of a battle as it occurred (to my knowledge). Edit: Sorry for the poor formating.
I can only find photos from a distance and all you can see are plumes of smoke and smears because movement.
Might have just been an excuse to knock down buildings that challenged the narrative, the battle damage photos are surreal, just bricks scattered like nothing with scorch marks everywhere.
