I don't know if prices are different in NYC, where everything seems horribly and outlandishly expensive, but this is how much the most basic pair of flip flops costs at American Eagle:

24.95 normally, marked down on the website to 17.46??? Maybe I'm just a poorfag but that's fucking expensive for a pair of flip flops. If she's so hard up she needs to constantly beg disabled people/"disabled" people for money, couldn't she pick up at 5 dollar pair at a bodega or a dollar store or something? Supposedly she's wheelchair-bound, so it's not like they need to be sturdy. Also, the thought of those little bloated red fat people feet just out there and visible fills me with disgust.

The amount of times I’ve had to interact with people who think like this is insane. They insist on getting only expensive brand name things all the while complaining about not having enough money to cover rent or food.
Vicki here is the ultimate version of this, no home to go to but must be wearing the $20 fucking flip flops or she just won’t survive another day. Fuck right off.

I'm going to have to disagree here, there are people who are genuinely struggling financially without to much to fall back who make stupid purchases but that's not the truth of the matter here, it's just what Vicky is presenting as her character. Yes for a real financially destitute man in a wheelchair it is unreasonable to spend $20 on a pair of flipflops however as we know Vicky is not really struggling for money in any meaningful way, is not a man, and is only in a wheelchair in the sense of physically being in it rather than actually needing it or using it full time,

Lets reframe this situation based on truthful information, She is a woman living off of her parents money, being given enough to afford to live in a Manhattan hotel while she's between longer term living situations, and has shown herself to be both willing and capable of walking. Given that information I don't think there's anything unusual about her wanting to buy a pair of brand name shoes.
 
If she was living anywhere else in the world it would be stupid but pretty normal for her to be wanting a pair of $17 flip flops from American Eagle. In NYC this is a joke. Wearing any kind of sandals there is basically unheard of because of how dirty the streets are. Also for her generation/peer group wearing a "mall brand" like American Eagle is kind of a faux pas. Lefties won't do it because it's not made "ethically" either for environmental or social reasons. Normies in the 20-something age group in NYC, depending on their social sphere, would rather buy designer, thrift, or DIY unless they literally relocated from the midwest two weeks ago and don't know any better (New York, for better or worse, is a looks focused city. When you see so many people a day, it's more of an efficiency thing than anything else - clothes/shoes are a great way to see what social groups a person belongs to, and so to tell whether you want to interact with them or ignore them). Plus for everyone who is fashion conscious in NYC, mall brands like AE are usually a few years behind actual fashion trends, even with fast fashion being a thing.

I guess if anything this proves that she probably is using the chair all the time when outside. Even then I wouldn't want my bare feet anywhere near the ground - in a chair she's less likely to step in dog shit or accidentally take a dip in a puddle of sidewalk juice, but she's at perfect height for brushing up against piles of trash bags (ripped open by people looking for cans), not to mention other people's legs/body parts on the train or on the street.

I got a pair in the brown and black. They are more comfortable than you would think.
 
How do we know that she doesn’t actually just live with her parents? Or in a apartment they own?

Like she’s basically a lazy munchie, and it’s so easy to lie on the internet about being homeless or disabled or hard down by.

I guess way I’m saying is I don’t believe the homeless arc at all. I do believe she probably does receive money from a trust but that’s it’s maybe quarterly deposits or similar and she blows through it on uber eats and private pay doctors.

Benjamin Daniel Faulding was born in Brooklyn on November 19th, 1983 to the
late Steven A. Faulding and Anita Faulding.

He attended the Children’s Learning Center Day Care Center. When he was 8
years old, his family moved to Baldwin, NY, where he attended the Baldwin
Public Schools. He graduated from Queens College, and received a Masters
Degree from the Silberman School of Social Work. He was currently working as a
social worker at Interborough Development and Consultation Center.

Ben was an avid defender of the civil rights of all people, and often posted his
thoughts on our current political situation. He was followed by many who
appreciated his intelligence and commitment. He was an accomplished
photographer and had traveled extensively.

Benjamin passed away in his Brooklyn apartment on July 27, 2025. He will be
sorely missed by his mother, his younger brother Jeremy, and his many friends,
colleagues, and comrades. His memory will always be a blessing.

He was 41.

Ben was introduced to Yiddishkeit later in life and was an alumnus of Mayanot. He later moved to Crown Heights, where he lived for many years.

He was a writer, photographer and advocate for a more inclusive frum community. He was active in building up the Chevra Ahavas Yisroel community.

He is survived by his mother and brother, and was predeceased by his father.

The levaya will take place on Wednesday, 27 Tammuz / July 30 at 1:00 PM, with visitation from 12:00–1:00 PM at Gutterman Funeral Home, 175 N. Long Beach Road, Rockville Centre, NY.
