For most humans, development means gradually drifting towards some nearby local maximum for physical and psychological satisfaction, and they can't reason and commit their way out of it. This is also why fat people stay fat.
 
I haven't done any research, shame on me, but the fridge video always smelled like a super intentional artificial thing rather than "the community came together and solved challenges and did this fun thing together".
Not fully fake but kinda fake promo video vibes.
 
Jason will be streaming on his birthday this Thursday, and he won't stream on Wednesday 16th, The Promised Day.
Meaning, the aftermath of another low quality patch release, or even better another delay, will be faced live.

It's worth mentioning that anything can run "on a fridge" if you use cloud streaming (https://x.com/Andy_VGC/status/1315920909442658305), and although I haven't seen the famous fridge video, I doubt it shows proof that it's actually running on device.
 
He could make a stream where he superhacks a fridge, a smartwatch and an amazon ring doorbell to play shartbound but that would come dangerously close to being content, would take from his 14 hours of fighting chat and might need some minor coding chops to do.

Not that it matters much, blending such small textures is not a problem for a modern CPU.
 
It also occurred to me that all this configuration file thing he's been doing non-stop is very much what you could get done in 15 minutes with any decent LLM.

He really is malding so bad, he stopped everything to ban people again. He did that earlier when I tuned in. Someone asked about it and he said it's better to "deal with them now" and that "this is fatherless behavior."

I've left it up for over 10 minutes now and he hasn't touched anything on his screen. Someone asked "How many lines of code written today" and Mald said "None." and that he's been fixing the blockgame economy by editing the config file and that it's taken him 12 hours. I'm sure mindlessly editing the config file one character at a time is the best way to go about that.

Mald got upset at someone asking about changing how the game lighting works, probably because of Code Jesus' recent video, and Mald played the fridge video again and brags that he wrote the game framework 8 years ago and says he only has to write dialogue now.

Then he ended the stream and instantly privated everything.

unless you watched some other video I have no idea how you came to that conclusion, it’s just a blank canvas in VRAM you can draw to. Read the docs on surfaces. You kinda just set it once and forget about it unless the screen gets resized or you need to draw to it.

When he made a video a long time ago talking about his amazing lighting system I figured he was just using surfaces. What he’s doing isn’t even really ray tracing. It’s only moving from side to side and creating a fake gradient. What he’s doing with his code could be accomplished with a simple sprite with an alpha
