The Magyars likely have little genetic overlap with the Huns having migrated into modern day Hungary long after the Hunnic conquests of Europe. They likely picked up the name through intermingling with Turkic nomads while passing through modern day Ukraine

With Kirshe. I want to be on her side. But really. When someone is showing the complete lack of actual morality in what they do for their daily income. And a complete inability to actually to be honest about what they are really doing. How am I going to actually take them seriously when they talk about anything else? It just shows their isn't actually any moral fiber.

You don't need to get into haplogroup genetic autism to understand why HUNgarians, whose national mythos is all about them beings descended from HUNs, might name themselves HUNnic names.
 
Huns being Turks is Turk cope, Huns were either Ugric like the Hungarians or Mongolic like the Mongols, but they definitely didn't come from the same place that the early Turks did even if they raped the shit out of the early Turks. Turks spent all of human history getting butt raped by Persians and a revolving door of steppe people in the Ferghana valley up until they united under the Seljuks and became a problem for everyone over the subsequent 900 years.
