For context: the Let's Player VoidBurger (a piece of work in of herself) played Yooka-Laylee and really did not like it (to her own disappointment).

I love the idea of people so filled with irrational hate that they'd deliberately buy a shitty game just to imagine that somehow this is making other people angry, even though those other people couldn't care less.

Like the nuts who claimed they were going to go watch the new Ghostbusters over and over.
"I'm gonna waste my own money! That'll show those rotten goober-grapes!"

I'm playing the game right now and liking it quite a bit so far.

Yeah, it's essentially a retread of Banjo Kazooie in regards to the homeworld and how a lot of the characters perform the same roles as those in BK, but it was kinda meant to be a spiritual successor, so I can let that slide.

The only thing I find really weird is the "Expand" mechanic. Like... what's the point? Why arbitrarily lock off parts of the levels and have you spend extra Pagies just to see the rest?

Besides that, the levels themselves so far are pretty large and intricate. It feels like playing the Banjo games all over again. Shame that it seems like there's only five of them. : /

Kinda weird that some people are giving this game a lower score than MN9, this game actually feels like the people behind it gave a shit.

I would say that the game is better than MN9 because MN9 was a trainwreck from close to start to finish while Yooka had some hiccups here and there.

This is probably an unpopular opinion (I've partially read throught the thread but I went through the information concerning the drama) but I actually think what JonTron said was legit racist, in particular the following quotes.

We've gotten rid of discrimination in our Western countries. If you don't think we've gotten rid of discrimination, you're living in a fantasy land.
Kiddy Diddler: What if whites become the minority but most brown people assimilated to the culture but most brown people assimilated to the culture. Would that be OK?

JonTron: Yeah, but if they assimilated, they would enter the gene pool eventually and just... you know...
Whites should stick together and keep to their own country.
Fucked a 15 year old: A hundred and fifty years ago, Italians, Polish people, Irishmen, wouldn't have even been considered white people, let alone Americans.
JonTron: I don't know that that's true. That is just a myth. That's not true. They were considered white. I don't know where this thing that Italians and Irish weren't considered white. That's ridiculous. You seen Irish, they're like the whitest people around, the hell, that's just a fucking myth. So [laughs] I'm gonna take that from you.

A lot of what JonTron said is very comparable to typical White Supremacist viewpoints found on DailyStormer (and one of them even met with Destiny after the "debate" to defend Jon while slamming 13 beers in 2 hours) with the typical existential fears of change and irrelevance mixed in with a primordial dread over death and nothingness.

I also don't think that this is in any way comparable to the Pewdiepie situation with the WSJ, since Pewdiepie was quite clear in both his video and explanation that what he did was a edgy joke that his audience is used to by now, while JonTron was asked his serious, honest opinion over things like race, immigration and ethnic composition of nations.

However I think for JonTron these comments came from of lack of information rather than a place of malice. Its painfully clear throughout the "debate" that what JonTron was saying is what he's picked up from 4chan, reddit and Sargon without any deeper analysis into what he's actually saying or believing. There's really no deeper argument other than factoids and talking points other people have made to push a certain slanted viewpoint.

And he wasn't always like this, he was a supporter of Ron Paul, voted for Obama twice, supported Bernie and eventually went to support Trump. This was a slow gradual process primarily caused by reactionaries on the left taking his edgy jokes too seriously and pushing him towards a composition fallacy concerning left-wing politics as a whole. Anti-SJWs in general are a reaction to SJWs and not a real thought structure or political ideaology.

This however goes into a deeper question concerning entertainers and their political viewpoints: should you be obligated to dislike an entertainer just because you disagree with their viewpoints? I say no, and for one particular reason.

The difference between a Lena Dunham and JonTron is that JonTron overwhelmingly kept his political viewpoints out of his videos, and the focus of his entertainment, was for the sake of entertainment. Its a political neutral ground where everyone has a chance to laugh and not be immersed in partisan bullshit where everyone who isn't left of Lenin is a Nazi or anyone right of Mengele is an SJW.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that JonTron is fat and his opinions don't matter anyways bc fat people aren't technically people tbh.

I agree with everything you said here and I think this is the important part to bear in mind. I think, as many others have said, that Jon's still getting a handle on what he actually believes and as a result said some stupid shit. He seems to have learned his lesson since then because he's kept quiet and his Twitter's been a steady stream of fairly apolitical content. A reference to The Great Meme War was probably the most political thing I saw recently.

Also, just a clarification. I don't think the quotes you highlighted are ideas he got from Sargon, at least not for the most part. Sargon does talk about immigration and the impact it can have, but mostly in relation to Muslims rather than other races. He'll have picked those ideas up from Stefan Molyneux who he's admitted to being a fan of.

Another thing to keep in mind, and I say this as someone who's been a JonTron fan for years: He's not great at articulating himself on the spot. You don't see it much on his show because it's scripted, but it becomes more obvious during old Game Grumps videos.

Best example I can think of is when him and Arin/Egoraptor were playing some basketball game neither of them had ever seen before, and Jon figured out the controls first and refused to tell Arin what they were. Jon ended up winning, and Arin got upset and started yelling at him for not telling him what to do. Now, later he was able to explain himself more clearly (something along the lines of "I didn't know any more about it than you did when we started, I had to figure it out on my own, I thought it was only fair you had to too"), but at that moment he was stumbling over his words and nervously laughing trying to defuse the situation, because his friend is mad and yelling at him over vidya and he panicked.

I'm not disagreeing with you in regards to him saying really genuinely stupid shit, and I agree it seems to come from a place of ignorance rather than outright malice. My point is, he's not always able to clearly explain his point of view on things, especially when he hasn't been given time to clearly put them together in his head, and especially not when he's flustered or overwhelmed. So when he gets into a live, loosely-defined debate with someone whose entire style is based on overwhelming and flustering his opponent rather than actual discussion... well, I can see why shit would go south.

As for why he agreed to the debate in the first place? Beats me lol.
I thought the name sounded familier. His former twitter account was pressfarttocountine I think.
Oh shit is that who that is? lol I'm surprised he doesn't have a thread here already. I haven't heard much about him since like the start of GooberGrape, but I remember him being a real piece of work.

This video got a bunch of them reeing because dunkey didn't say enough bad things about JonTron. Here's some stuff from the first two pages. The thread is currently at 6.

How autistic are you to not be able to tell that was a joke?

Yeah, I'm sure Josh and James really agree with JonTron.

It really is more guilt by association garbage. So here are two threads where they rush out to agree with ISIS. http://archive.is/ndjzX http://archive.is/HSw30 Here are two more threads where they defend pedophiles. https://archive.is/QSOUo https://archive.is/CtxDX There are actually a lot more than just two threads defending pedos.

Once you start defending pedophiles, you should not be allowed to complain about someone like JonTron. Saying ignorant shit is preferable to "oh well, they can't help that they're sexually attracted to children!" Fucking gross.

I played about 4 hours of the game. I have to say I would have been better off playing the old PS1 Spyro games again. Spyro had more things going on and a lot less empty fields of nothing. The enemy placement better in Spyro also. The quiz thing is real and it's pointless. Meh.

Reason why I keep on comparing it to Spyro because I never really play the Banjo games or owned a Nintendo 64.
