So left and illegals BTFO?
Not exactly, but this was important. It’s now going to turn the fight into one around class action suits and following procedure to properly certify a class which can be fought by the admin. The justices could have gone farther, but this is better than Roberts punting again. And we got ACB excoriating Jackson on paper which is great.

Edit: Sotomayor is reading her dissent from the bench which is basically the closest to seeing a Justice cope and sneed publicly. She is big mad

SCOTUS just told the district courts to fuck themselves.
6-3 ACB wrote it.

Dissent is the liberal women crying about birthright which ACB says is premature cuz the case wasn’t even about birthright.

“federal courts do not exercise general oversight of the Executive Branch; they resolve cases and controversies consistent with the authority Congress has given them. When a court concludes that the Executive Branch has acted unlawfully, the answer is not for the court to exceed its power, too."

“We observe only this:JUSTICE JACKSON decries an imperial Executive while em-bracing an imperial Judiciary."
Finally. Does that mean the cuts, firings, and deportations can now continue unimpeded?

It doesn't declare all Trump's executive orders legal but it does mean they have the benefit of the doubt while they go through the system rather than some district judge neutering them across the country with sweeping injunctions.

Another win??
Note that the ruling wasn't on birthright citizenship but rather nationwide injuctions.
Better than nothing. These judges were out of control.

Only if they make a ruling nation wide i think.A judge can still block an individual case

Note that the ruling wasn't on birthright citizenship but rather nationwide injuctions. They're saying that they'll allow it to go into effect to an extent while it goes up the ladder. Basically, they're curtailing nationwide injunctions bigly, which is big.

Correct, and we're going to have to repeat this, at great length and high volume, over and over and over.

From this.. It's pre-decision (about 45 minutes before it was announced) video but explains what it's about well.

ETA: The shirt thing is from Mark Rutte the other day calling Trump 'daddy'.

TL;DR - the SCOTUS ruled that lower courts can't expand their jurisdiction by fiat. No, not even because Orange Man bad.

No. It just suspended the court's Universal Injunctions specifically regarding the birthright citizenship Executive Order.

What it does do is BTFO Universal Injunctions outright. It doesn't shut them all down, but Trump can now go after all of them if they aren't rescinded. His Maryland lawsuit now just got infinitely stronger and he will likely win, permanently ending universal injunctions forever.

The Republicans control the Senate so this wouldn't be a problem if they didn't want it to be. That woman would've been yeeted in 5 seconds if she was causing unwanted trouble. It's all theater.
Yep. The Senate GOP is the most liberal Republican faction of the government. However, since it relies on Republican voters to stay in office, to advance the progressive agenda, or at least curtail the populist agenda, they have to find sneaky ways to do it so they can say it's not really their fault.

People were dooming like crazy but this was always going to be the eventual outcome.

The idea that the Supreme Court would ever voluntarily cede their authority to lower courts is complete fantasy.

Dooming is not a winning mentality.
