WW3 is not WW1 where a series of inexplicable alliances fire off in sequence resulting all countries that matter fighting each other. WW3 is Russia's botched invasion of Ukraine allowing Azerbaijan to invade Armenia and Russia's failure to support it giving the Syrian rebels an indicator that Assad was by himself causing an unexpected push which allowed Israel to safely destroy Syria's aircraft and air defenses as well as taking Mount Hermon permitting it to have an air passage by which to conduct an air assault on Iran forcing the US to intervene and drop bunker busters on its nuclear facilities. (For those keeping track: Ukraine, Russia, United States, Israel, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Syria, Iran).

It was a meme joke. 'Things happen' but nothing too much. I don't see major states invading each other, probably a lot more skirmishes though. My main concern has been forever US/Europe vs China vs Russia. I think the world is a bigger risk of Russia just saying fuck it than these others, but that's just my guess.

Unless the bulk of the pacific fleet seemingly collapses overnight invading Taiwan will always be a dumb move for a country who counts fishing boats as part of their navy
China can bomb Taiwan into obvlivion but I still don't see how they move an invasion force there about like D-Day size without it being stopped en route. I think people watched Red Dawn type movies too much.

Currently it's a good thing to be nice to China, if china loses power or economic stability, it'll be a good thing to hate China, satellite nations of superpowers are fickle and won't tie themselves to anything unless forced to.
