A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I signed up to say thank you to @Made In Wales you're my primary news source. Too much celebrity gossip to sort through to get to the real news on internet news sites.

The British class system isn't about income brackets, it's about how you live your life. The power balance was changed during the 80s when a new class of elites were created. The Yuppy movement were globalists moving around fake money to get very rich in a short time span. Their culture and influx of money created a new class in Britain called the New Money class. They are the people in charge since the 2000s and who have lead to the collapse of the country.

Lower Class
Scum. They're dirty, thieving swines who constantly cause problems for each other. When you hear council estate you should avoid or Gypo this is what you're talking about. Most are on benefits, don't use protection and create feral kids. They spend their money on fags, booze and live hand to mouth with pawn shops keeping them fed occasionally. Even if they win the lottery it goes on fags and booze. They can live intermixed with the working class but they're usually the problem kids in school or the ones living in a mould filled flat they never clean.

Working Class.
Majority of the country and they're mostly decent people. They have a small amount of savings and go on holiday with the kids once a year. The poorer ones are on benefits but they act like everyone around them. Working class can be richer than the middle class and often own their own businesses but live the working class life style. The richer ones will buy a bigger TV and fancier cars but their culture and how they interact with the world is still the same. They can replace a broken TV or buy a new second hand car every few years but they're very little Britain and like the people they're around. Lots of villages are made up of the working class, living in houses their families help build after WW2. "Rural working class" might own a nice sized house, but they're still not well off in real terms. They are happy living a meat and 2 veg life with the telly and a playstation. The ones that have the money to move don't because their families and history is all in the same region.

Middle Class
Bastards, the lot of them. Middle management dickheads who want to meddle with everything. They are what everyone else has described them as and worse. They want to be the New money elites so they embrace globalism and worm their way into minor positions of power to push it. They arrange things like the Pride parades and tell you how well cultured they are. They are race traitors and will tell you about their friendly Sikh, who hates Pakis as much as you. They only get upset when brown people move close to them and start littering around them. They aren't actually racist and would embrace globalism and enforce the collapse of the country all over again if only those damn brown people would live some where else. They are also the primary people buying and mortgaging houses to rent to the working class. Getting a free house because the bank sees middle class as a safe mortgage and they can outbid the working class.

Old Money Elites
The old British elite who say "what what what" and like hunting. They have a lot of family money but it's tied up in stately homes and land. They are generally agreeable sorts who respect the working class and have to deal with them on their estates or by being local councilors. They used to run the country and make up the house of lords style political class but got replaced by the New Money Elites. They are almost all gone now and the few remaining are side lined and have their big homes as tourist locations. They're a bit loopy, have odd quirks and like peasant shooting. They cared about the country because they relied on a stable Britain to have any social standing. King Charles of Pakistan, London doesn't have any standing and that's what kept them in line. Lords and Ladies don't want to be known as lord Rape gang town.

New Money Elites
Yuppies and lawyers. When you say globalist you think of these twats and their middle class minions. Their families made a lot of money on the stock market or through international lawyering. They have no loyalty and no class so they will fight tooth and nail to tear down any country that has a culture outside of globalism. They want a fully open global market, full human movement and a total enforcement of any bullshit they can legally cripple you with. Kier Starmer and Tony Blair are the poster child for these people. They think they're better than you because they have money and they're spoiled brats with unlimited ambition. They are the people who took over the country and decided they needed to destroy it to punish the Old Money Elites. They don't care because they can move away any time they want. They are globally rich and not just locally rich. Their money is invested in stocks, housing across the globe and they act like vultures any time a penny can be made. They harm Britain because it keeps their choke hold on the country and stops any one else rising up to replace them. They have the money to buy the protection from the problems they cause, but any one else has to fight off hordes of rapey invaders making it difficult to collect power or wealth to rival them. Any sort of political movement growing at a council level will see a bunch of pakis moved into a nearby hotel to mess with the voting there and weaken parties like Reform. Which isn't helped by the conservatives putting brown people in charge thinking they can keep the rapey pakis voting for them by sharing a skin colour. I can't be the only one who noticed after the success of Reform many of their seats got browner within weeks of them winning them.

There is a third class of Elites different to the New money type but they're foreigners and don't work into the British class system. They buy up football teams, big houses in London and own a lot of the country's assets. They don't live here and sell things when the novelty wears off. They are asset stripping the country and consider it a stock for their portfolio. They fund new mosques and support their countrymen. They're hard to pin down because Chinese, Arabs and Americans doing this aren't a unified group and their culture doesn't impact their investment purchases.

Trying to die by NHS would take years and by then you will already be dead or in a state where you can't consent any more. Labour have brought in 2 bills where they are looking to kill people and used them as a smoke screen for the rape gang report. They're evil, baby killers and now they want to open the doors to offing old folks because they like people dying and being replaced. No one with a brain thinks assisted suicide is a bad idea for people with serious problems that want to end their life. The problem is evil people are writing laws about it and creating an industry instead of stepping aside and letting common sense decriminalize assisted suicide with as little red tape as possible. The local GP can tell you if Doris was wanting to kill herself or if someone murdered her. A 3 year wait for a panel of twats to decide if she can kill herself or not is barbaric and managers ruining lives.

for the the future of the country comes down to a hard reversal on immigration. not just stopping it but actively deporting people. a fucking lot of them. anything else isn't not good enough.

@Zoot 100% agree, and I am sure that it will come around soon with Reform UK in charge. The ECHR has lost the goodwill and support of many people (even on the Left - the supposed feminists etc. who are also concerned about rape gangs and the safety of children) and one more Southport type incident will see the move towards axing it and all the other 'PC' establishments greatly accelerated.

Two options as I see it:
1. NHS to waste millions buying (defective) suicide pods
Hopefully they don't fail!


2. 1:1 copy of Canada's MAiD. I read how they did. Grim as fuck, honestly.

Once the person has consented to go ahead, the MAiD practitioner will often move to a different room or space to complete paperwork and get the medications ready. The MAiD practitioner or a nurse will insert a needle into the vein (IV). The person and those present will be given privacy if they wish to say their final goodbyes. The MAiD practitioners will help those present be in the positions the person would like, eg. lying next to them, holding hands, in sight or out of sight.

Whenever the person is ready the MAiD practitioner will ask again if they want to go ahead and if they do, they will begin to put the medications through the IV:

The first drug deeply relaxes the person and they begin to lose consciousness. Sometimes the person will mumble something that can’t be understood. Some people snore or yawn or take one or two big breaths.
The second drug puts the person into a deep coma. Often the mouth will fall open as the jaw muscles relax.
The third drug stops their breathing and heart, and results in death. Because they are in a coma, they are not aware of their heart and lungs stopping. The person will not lose control of their bowels or bladder, and the colour will slowly fade from their face and body.
Even if it appears that the person has died, all the drugs will be given. The MAiD practitioner will listen for heart sounds with their stethoscope and let those present know that the person has died. The body will become cool to the touch and the color of the body will change as time passes.

It usually takes between 5 and 20 minutes to give all the medications, and for the heart to stop. Many people die in the first few minutes because they are so ill.

Although those who provide MAiD do their best to prepare those present for the sudden change in the person from being alert to no longer alive, some people are surprised by how quickly the person dies. Most assisted deaths have been described by healthcare professionals and families who have been present as painless and peaceful.

Although it is legal in Canada to have a self-administered medically assisted death (where the person takes prescribed medication by mouth themselves), this is still rare in Canada. In many provinces and territories, the only type of assisted death that is available is where the physician or nurse practitioner gives the medications through IV.

First day of the start of Summer too. I'd take any kneejerk claim it was a migrant with a grain of salt from people who'd want it to be, but I'd say anything high profile like this makes it more likely than not. We'll see if it results in anything but it doesn't feel big enough to warrant one. Neither of them are dead either, thankfully.
