Because it used to be the case that everyone connecting to the Internet had their own personal IP address, and service providers would route almost all packets for it straight to your network interface, no questions asked, with all the entailed security implications. It's true that today's niggercattle have little to fear from their NAT's IP address being visible to some webmaster.

Your IP might not be sacred, but it’s still a fingerprint, especially if you have a static IP and zero opsec. DDoS, spoofing, tracking, geolocation, MitM attacks, packet inspection etc is all on the table once your IP’s out there. Half of users don’t even have DNS locked down or know what WebRTC is.

NAT doesn't fix this issue with IPv6 addresses on the rise, either. If someone knows your public facing IP address, they can just run brute-forcing mills and saturate port 80 with SYN ACK shit, abuse port 22 until it surrenders SSH access with a white flag, and other tomfoolery.

They are trying desperately to spread a narrative that Im as bad as mald, cuz I clapped back at some fuckin dweeb and that im marketing to reddit while talking shit to redditors. I didnt make this game to sell a million copies its a shitty throwaway project for fun. They were never the demographic for the game anyways, When I first posted the game they were hating on it saying steam wouldnt allow it or I would get sued, so I leaned into it and started posting more about the game as a troll. Now theyre mad cuz I beat mald and his false dmca claim releasing the game on steam.
