It is in the utmost interest of everyone to be courteous and amicable no matter how populated an area is. Those little ma and pa stores and general stores in the boonies that sells various odds and ends and sling a mean grilled sandwich are little utopias that you quickly learn to love.

Those places are a little slice of heaven once you acclimate to them. They'll go above and beyond for you, and they wouldn't even bother killing Ricky - it wouldn't be worth it. They certainly would openly make fun of him - and that recipe is actually a decent one if started early enough, it helps wear the edges off everyone so that you can live together, if not in peace, at least not in active war.

It's different than how it went down at Hooligans, as they have no reason to NOT throw him out when he becomes annoying - small one-bar towns will toss you out but often you have to REALLY fuck up before they permanently ban you.

Understanding rural life and politics is fundamental to understanding the USA, imo.
