It's just a really boring trope by now that's mainly there because it's the standard. The only anime who did child soldiers right was Black Lagoon (sorta).
If you are just talking about the insanity of him imagining himself getting cucked then just Rent a GF has that, but a ton of manga has NTR bait including DanDaDan and Zom100 and it rarely serves any actual narrative purpose.

Nowadays yeah but 1999 is a long time ago and nowadays people only watch the current thing. It has good music and other things about it but I don't particularly for the story and dislike the MC.

I tried watching it years ago from one of those name a character who suffered more threads on /a/. Animation was iffy and the characters looked off. Looked up what the fuck was going on. The spirit of the earth sent him into the future or some shit. Never tried again. Don't want to either.

It mainly seemed like /a/ and 2chan shit posting, the drop in sales was probably because the buzz it got from winning the next manga awards died down a little, although I wouldn't say there isn't a small amount of schizos who generally believe that.
I've read 190 chapters of Dandadan, and there is no "NTR bait". Dunno what you're referring to with Zom, I've only seen the anime.
Jiji, but nothing came of it and no one over reacted despite people trying to force it. I don't particularly care either because I dislike Dandadan and dropped it for completely unrelated reasons.
You must have lived under a rock because the author got massive hate in all languages and basically killed the hype. Author had to clearly cut the planned arc and drama and immediately resolved everything the next chapter. It wasn't part of what the anime covered.
I'm a sucker for sappy emotional shit, and while there were a few magical moments, overall the series felt a bit flat to me. I also enjoy shows that are slower-paced and introspective (Mushishi, Spice and Wolf, Bartender, Kino no Tabi, etc), but outside of the payoff of episode 10, I don't really care about the cast. I don't have that compelling urge to watch the films outside of completion's sake and am in no hurry to do so.
Out of curiosity, may I ask why? I don't pay much attention to that series but I see nothing objectionable from it.
