Playtonic never had a chance then. Their publishing was handled by people who think engaging in internet politics is their number one duty, not making sure their client's game has a clean and smooth release.

Why it keeps happening is due to a combination of factors, including the press being completely agenda-driven and pathologically lazy to the point of outright incompetence. Quinn and Sarkeesian literally had 24/7 coverage of how they're innocent victims who dindu nuffin to deserve their ever-so-nasty harassment (that earned them thousands upon thousands of dollars in pitybux). They have a massive amount of influence, but thankfully, it's a shred of what it once was - so take heart - this will stop happening eventually.

By this point, even Gamerghazi and Tumblr are making fun of Anita for this shit, and when the people who literally once lionized you start to turn, it's generally an indication that the worm is turning.

In funnier, and more topical news, the Steam Forum has been invaded by /pol/ and the results are pretty much exactly what you'd expect.

They'll never live this down before release. In addition to all the troll topics, regular threads quickly get dereailed with JonTron talk. I assume most people don't even bother to try and have any real discussion on the steam forums anymore when they can just use reddit.

Further analysis has shown that he loves him some Feminist Frequency, and, like Jake Alley, believes GG is all about harassment. This is neither anomalous nor especially damning.

What fucking is a little more damning however, is that he's voicing full support for Ed Smith, Vice Media staffer and human speed-bump who notoriously has written literally hundreds of articles bemoaning GG and whining about how it's responsible for all the evils on the tubernets.

The article that Schilling's voicing support for is this fucking thing, which declared Milo the "leader of Gamergate" a year and a half after GG fucking ended. I'm not going to quote that one because you've all read fifty thousand fucking "Gamergate is Satan" articles by now and they're all exactly the fucking same. There's not much to say here except that Smith pathologically stated that GG supporters deserved to be harassed.

TL;DR: Team 17's head, Chris Schilling, is a NeoGAF supporter and has white knighted both Feminist Frequency and Quinn previously.

Most of his outbursts were early into GG, where he could be forgiven for whatever stance he had if he'd just shut up about it and said nothing. Unfortunately, he's on record not only voicing support for Quinn well into 2016, but supporting Ed Smith, a complete lunatic who believes that GG is Satan and also that Jace was real. While it's a bit too early to say he's in the tank - he's certainly more subtle and intelligent than your average Anti-GGer - enough evidence exists to support him being biased.

Yea okay but fuck Team 17. They are certainly never getting my money again, so long as I can help it. I hope to god Playtonic never works w/ then again, and that future indie devs don't make this mistake.

This strikes me as interesting.

Jim Sterling was the same fucking dipshit who ran a hit-piece on Jontron less than 24 hours before NeoGAF's offensive against the guy, and has a long and glorious tradition of trying to bully devs into self-censoring while trying to position himself as a consumer advocate. He also has a thread. His fugly tranny partner-in-crime, who I believe also has a thread on this forum, Laura Kate Dale, has a reputation even more fucking onerous and is not above threatening developers who offend her morality openly.

Given the histories of the lolcows involved and the fact that both sing NeoGAF's praises often, I sure as shit don't think this shit is coincidence.
