so the prosecutor is trying to retroactively claim that the bodycam was NOT evidence because it was not used in the omnibus hearing and should not count as evidence. the legal question then seems to be whether 1) its use in the motion to dismiss based on april's mirandizing/not means it qualifies as evidence and 2) whether its use at any other point during the case makes it count as evidence no matter what the judge/prosecutor says about its non-use in the omnibus. if the prosecutor flat out claims in the filing that "we didn't use this as evidence and so it shouldn't be required to be made public" then i feel like that has a chance of working to prevent release provided the answer to both questions is negative.

You can help someone simply because your motivations align, not because you like him. There may be something in the video that the prosecutor and sheriff feel like may cause actual reputational damage to the cops or the department while also knowing that it'll show Nick's house was a crackden.
