The only thing I can imagine is some mix of personal favors or some reason the county doesn't want the footage out in general unrelated to nicks desires.

Maybe they know it would immediately become prime internet video material and they don't want a drug addicted child neglecting sex freak ex lawyer to become their unofficial mascot. The drachenlord effect of having their town be known for his existence.

The only reasonable assumption is that Kandiyohi County does not want the world to see how poor Rekieta was treated, I urge anyone associated with them to make a fuss, As of now I only believe Kandiyohi County is holding information back because it would be detrimental to them and if I was them I would move to "correct the record" as soon as humanly possible.

In rainbow land they're trying to suppress the bodycam footage because it shows an appalling situation for the kids and once made public they could get backlash for pleading down the charges and returning the children to the home. But in reality they probably just fucked shit up during the search and don't want to expose themselves.
 
At least now I won't have to hear how actually he's a good father which is why they gave the kids back. ACKTUSLLY it's cause the county is on his side and has been giving him layups the entire time, to the point they're actively helping him hide the bodycam footage.

The way you describe it actually does make it sound like the only person not corrupt was the judge lol. It's speculation fo course but doesn't sound like unreasonable speculation that the sheriff is in the elder Rekieta's pockets. If they were against nick entirely, he'd want the footage out. If they're willing to brazenly defy a court order I can only assume the prosecution thought this was an easy middle class bust and got bought out during the investigation to have a change of heart about how big a deal it was.
