He does realise Lovecraft’s actual thematic focus was cosmic indifference, the terrifying notion that humans are insignificant specks in a cold, unknowable universe. There was no mystery to the human experience, only unspeakable horror. Whenever a character exposes themselves to the unfathomable terror, they suffer gruesome fates for their hubris.Pontificated on how he misses H.P. Lovecraft because he reminded us that there were mysteries in the human experience.
To reduce that to some vague wistfulness about “mystery” is like saying you miss Nietzsche because he reminded you that sometimes people feel sad. Fucking idiot.
