Idubbbz's problem is he didn't actually reinvent his persona.

George retired his Filthy Frank persona so he can reinvent himself as Joji and have found massive success in finding new audience while distancing himself from much of his old audience.

The H3H3 podcast being on a new channel and on different services gave Ethen and Hila an opportunity to reinvent themselves grow a new more liberal audience while phasing out their main channel that had a more anti-SJW core audience.

Idubbbz (and Anisa) didn't want to retire his Idubbbz idenity and risk starting from scratch building a new audience. They wanted to radically change his presentation while keeping his current audience, so his "reinventing" was literally him getting on camera and saying "I am a cuck now and I hate you all. Please watch my new boring videos". He still has all the baggage of being Idubbbz the nigger faggot, but with a now spiteful audience who will alog him every day. If Ian was serous about rebranding he should have made a video that was basically, "I want to retire the Idubbbz persona because it doesn't really fit with the direction I want to go with my content. I have made a new channel that will feature stuff more serious like documentaries. Please subscribe there if that is your thing. Thank you for all your support over the years."

I think the fundamental difference is "distanced" instead of "alienated".

Joji effectively said he didn't want to do this shit anymore and sanitised/allowed his new mainstream shit to be sanitised and given the currentyear consultancy treatment going forwards. However he did not then turn his career into some perpetual whimpering apology for saying no-no words and making bad-wrong jokes on youtube for a couple years, and he did not personally direct bile or contempt at his old fans, even if his material went further and further away from what his old fans liked.

Basically he moved on, his fans moved on, but both sides more or less left the door open for the other without hard feelings.

If The Raped did not spend so much fucking time calling attention to how "HE HAS CHANGED AND FOUND EMPATHY AND IS WORKING TO DO BETTER GUIZ" and overtly spitting at those who enjoyed his old material and denouncing them and a laundry list of other segments of society as irredeemable and degenerate bigot nazis who are simultaneously terrifyingly dangerous and also laughably pathetic, odds are he would still have a fairly decent lingering fan base for whatever edgeless slop he produced even if he was well past his peak.

Ian also let Anisa run the show because (and I bet she convinced him that) "she has more experience in more areas of YouTube/the internet than him." As gay and cucked the OF shit is, there is a way to spin it (Idk how but you can do it). The problem is that neither he nor she (more so she) does not want to listen to any criticism even if it is constructive and from a loving place. I have zero doubts that after Ethan's MANY fuck ups/gabs/ stupid moments, his wife pulled him aside and told him "look, you have to stop doing XYZ it is affecting abc/me/you/our brand/our livelihood)" and because Ethan respects her he did what she said, and I imagine it happened in reverse (Ethan telling Hila to stop something). The problem with THE RAPED and his owner are that she has zero respect for him outside of what he brings to her and he is too scared of "being alone/an incel again" to push back against his wife owner.


Just as a quick aside, Jim changed his last name and no one gave a shit, because he didn't give a shit.
