I'm still a sucker for heavy metal, although I've not listened to it as much in recent years. There was a very dark time in my early 20's, however, that heavy metal was pretty much the only thing that made sense to me.

That being said, I've developed an appreciation for a select few videos over the years, even thought I'm not as up-to-date as I'd necessarily like to be. Nevertheless, here are some of my favorites.
"It's not Reality" by Ewigkeit. I listened to this a lot when I was in Korea.
"Hero of the Day (S&M Version) by Metallica. I got hooked on this right after I returned home from Iraq.
"Amaranth" by Nightwish. This is right after they changed their singer. I still love it.

New Priest album coming soon. Like the first released track so far.

The more Halestorm I hear, the more I like them. Obviously a cover, but still- lots of bands fuck those up.

I listen to a fair amount of metal. I have a thing for melodic metal. Some of my favorites are as follows:
^Christian Alvestam has to be one of the greatest vocalists ever I swear. Haven't heard a guy with vocal range like this in ever. He has since left Scar Symmetry though.
^Sort of mainstream, but still a good band. Might wanna find their stuff somewhere else, as this youtube video is pretty bad quality and I can't find any others.
^Just recently got into this band. Pretty nice vocals and I like the tech-y undertones in some of their songs. One of my favorites now.

Scar Symmetry are pretty cool, and I agree with Alvestam being one of the strongest links in the band. It really says something that the band had to get TWO vocalists to replace him, and neither of them are as good as he was. If huge vocal range is what you like, you might get a kick out of Lost Horizon. Daniel Heiman is probably the most technically gifted singer I've ever heard, and he's in my top three favourite vocalists of all time.

Going through this thread, I'm really beginning to feel like a old fart. Most of my favorite metal acts are the older dogs like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Mountain, Motorhead, Rainbow and Uriah Heep (although calling Heep "metal" is a bit of a stretch). I do like some 80s and 90s acts like Judas Priest, Rob Zombie, and Monster Magnet. Also some lesser-known 00s bands like Priestess and Wolfmother (even though all they do is rip off other bands riffs, but somehow make it interesting).

Right now though, probably because I grew up listening to prog-rock, I'm still finding a great liking to bands like Blind Guardian, Heidevolk, and to some extent Nightwish. Also, Lordi is a fantastically wonderful band as far as I'm concerned.

And, of course, a special shout-out to Clutch, which is my musical lifeblood.

Bathory is my favorite band from the first wave of black \M/ETAL, and got me into black \M/ETAL as well

such great music, easily one the best \M/ETAL bands in general
I had the Under the Sign of the Black Mark and Hammerheart albums. I vastly preferred the latter, but still had fond memories of the former. The whole black metal thing as a whole for me was a little iffy and I wasn't terribly into it, but for what it was, it was pretty great.
