You just know that Rekieta is one of those controlling bastards who keeps a very tight rein on his cocaine. Oh sure, when he's spending the money it's all 'our cocaine', but when Rekieta is out and the girls fancy a fat line or two, they're shit out of luck.

The claim that the cocaine was locked in safe and only Nick had access is something Nick came up way later down the line. Yes, there was a safe, and he was possibly the only person who bothered dealing with it, but drugs were not confined to the safe only. The police report of the raid indicates they didn't have to have access to the safe, as the police found cocaine on vial with April's credit card contaminated by it.
