Let's get play a fun game of "Pretend Nick's Being Truthful," a Kiwi classic:

He's a millionaire with a stay-at-home wife who hired a nanny, paid her roughly $4k a month, and trusted her with raising his children for years, all while both parents were either unemployed or working from home.

During this period, despite only being paid $4k a month and the children being offspring to a millionaire, she paid them $75 to drink energy drinks, even though she'd be the one who'd have to then take care of these children who've been fed energy drinks. Nick somehow never noticed his children randomly acquiring $75 apiece. What she gained from this is wholly unclear. In addition, she supplied the children with alcohol, possibly stolen from Nick himself. Again, knowing that she would have to be the one to take care of the then inebriated children. He only finds out years later when, with no evidence, one of his neglected children tell him these tales.

I genuinely can't tell if the whole "$30k in expenses" bit is meant to imply that she was embezzling the funds by inflating/exaggerating grocery costs, but he's previously admitted that she would give him itemized receipts for these expenses, so it's a non-starter of an issue.

Ignoring how it all makes no fucking sense, the parents should still be held accountable in this. They're such bad judges of character that they let someone who allegedly poisoned his children with booze to remain in their house and on the payroll for years, she only left of her own accord after being begged to stay around, and they're so unconcerned with their children's well-being and have such a garbage rapport with their own kids that it took literal years for them to find out about these alleged transgressions.

All the while, he's STILL bemoaning how she left at an inconvenient time? Bitch, if those were my kids and some scumfuck was doing that to them, I wouldn't be blubbering about "boo hoo, it made things harder for me!" I'd sure as shit not be playing coy with "tee hee, felt vengeful today, might report later x)" bullshit. Pretty sure publicizing these fucked up things on your livestream will do far more to retraumatize the children instead of silently reporting it to the authorities.

And if this is somehow a ploy to distract away from the bodycam footage, then he's the biggest fucking retard in the world.

Nah, it's just a way to make himself look better and the nanny worse. He essentially reimbursed her for miscellaneous expenses that come with raising kids (his example is if one of the kids wanted fast food after soccer practice or something) as well as groceries and the like. It's not really a "nanny expense" and more of a "child expense" where the nanny just so happened to be the one to make the purchase. There's no reason to even bring it up other than so that he can technically say "I paid my nanny $90k a year to get drunk on the job and abuse my children."

Edit: there may have been some amount of "tipping" so to say. I.e., when the nanny took one of the kids out to McDonald's, she got herself a small fry. Rekieta may have just included the price of her fries in the reimbursement because why not. When I was in high school and had my license, my mom would ask me to drive to Target to pick up a few things, and she would sometimes cover the price if I wanted a soda or ice cream or something small.
