Sense of relatability? Unlike film/tv celebs, the appeal of most internet personalities is how more "real/down to earth" they are by comparison, especially when they appeal to very particular niches. There are people who really committed to this guy because they probably empathized with aspects of his life and his frustration with the gaming industry.Okay but seriously, why why why why why would you ever dickride someone who plays videogames on the internet?
It honestly shocked me because I always felt his complaints were very aimless and surface level, even if some of the stuff he has complained about were true to an extent. Hell, that Doom Eternal review should show how incompetent he is, I hate when people have to iterate in their reviews about hard games that "I've played the Souls games", and? They're not brain dead easy but that doesn't tell me shit. Any schmuck can play those games just fine if they're competent enough and still die a hundred times over.
Regardless, he always came off as a fag and when I searched him up here, I was surprised there was ever an appreciation thread to begin with. Even if you agreed with his sentiments about over representation in media and gaming casualization, the way he went about it always felt like cliffsnotes of shit you'd hear people shitpost on /v/, it always came off as disingenuous and more so feeding into a persona to appeal to the audience he wanted to attract, but it was never anything particularly biting or interesting.
