to me with my retro collecting, i collect game i plan to play eventually, the only game i bought as a meme was Link the Faces of Evil on the CDI because i found it for 80$ CBI, and i just found the idea of owning it funny. but generally, if you're buying games just to "collect" you're near hoarder levels of shit. Buy games you want to play

This cannot be understated.

When it came to bad games-especially shovelware-the Wii was the king-at least up until recently, and counting only consoles released in the last twenty years. The PS2, and DS were close seconds, but nothing could really beat the sheer amount of garbage that was pumped out for the Wii.

People act like the gaming industry has never been this bad before when that's not even remotely true. The only difference now is that the things making it bad are not the same things that were doing so back then.

A lot of the Wii's issues were hardware limitations. You'd have a game come out for the 360 and PS3, then they would have to make a separate game a lot of times for the wii which always was shittier, because it basically was a generation behind tech wise. Now however things are different. You can run a lot of games even on the specs for the Switch. It's the people behind it that now shit all over the industry, because it's easy to now. This also makes it easy for grifters and angry reviewers to make a killing just trashing every new release. Sure there's still buggy games. But a lot of times, things feel overexaggerated in terms of problems compared to ye olden days. Like, bro, i don't see game companies making seperate games for different consoles any more, they just port it over.
