Do you think the Trump administration is going down the Project 2025 list and using it as a playbook?
No. I don't, actually. I think there are people in positions who share the sentiment of the Heritage Foundation and last I checked, some people who are listed as contributors to the latest edition of it are either involved or involved adjacent to people within the administration in some capacity.

But do I think it's something Trump is doing as some sort of guidebook? or is even really aware of? No. But there was a shit ton of people mocking leftists for saying Project 2025 wanted to ban porn by laughing at them and saying it's not a literal thing. When the evidence says otherwise. If you still can't admit there's actions being taken directly from the Heritage Foundation's ideology at this point, then you're being intentionally stupid.

Want to know the best, funniest part? This isn't even about outlawing porn. He at most called for a temporary ban on porn on twitter due to the out of control nature of it.

The legistlation he's proposing is on age verification. Both on the social media and on the app store before making an account. Like buying alcohol, weed, or any other substance that requires you to be over the age of consent.

This technology exists, is widely adopted in any other situation, but not a single website mandates it or even implements it. VRChat added an ID verification, but they put it behind a paywall to make it entirely fucking useless.

If this is too much of a hurdle, to the people making or watching the porn, they should be banned outright. Full stop.
Yup. Even a modest common sense restriction -- "Maybe if you want to find pictures of prolapsed furry anuses with cum leaking out of them you should do so in private" -- is too much. The horror. The shock. "What if children can't find their prolapsed furry anuses with cum leaking out of them? This is a key component of LGBTQP people discovering their identity! You just want to genocide us all!"

And thanks to requiring ID, children have never been able to get access to booze, weed, cigarettes, or anything else they shouldn't have access to because Big Daddy Government solved everything.
Wake me when the left starts opening "child friendly no adults allowed speakeasies*" and becomes fucking indignant when the police suggest maybe they shouldn't do that. Just because regulation doesn't stop all abuses is not an excuse to not regulate at all. That's absurdist absolutist talk.
(* Fun fact: One of Jonathan Yaniv's plans IIRC was to have a "co-ed clothing optional swim night, no parents allowed" at a local pool. So this madness isn't that far from current year, if you extrapolate one vice for another.)

Porn is a vice. It is addictive. It should be regulated to a reasonable extent.

japan would be such a better country if it wasn't for the constant pedophilia
That’s the one pedo related thing I can’t bring myself to care about, is how it’s policed in a country on the other side of the world that I have no interest in ever visiting.

It would take caring about Japan to have any interest in whether cp drawings are illegal there or not and whether it’s affected by claiming that the obvious child is really a 12,000 year old demon or whatever

I kinda feel like getting invested in those types of philosophical arguments detracts from clarity with our own, which is that nuance can go fuck itself, a line must be drawn, and the line is 18 so fucking deal with it

The biggest problem we have is the nigglers who want to unpack everything endlessly, who create moral confusion because they get some kick out of it

As for the bigger conversation, x is an American company and should obviously follow American law.

Also if we’re banning shit, ban the self harm and eating disorder shit, because those always bend towards underage sexualization

This is absolutely a powerlevel, but the first time I saw porn was at age five. Me and a friend clicked a link on the gummy bear music video that led directly to a porn site. That shouldn't have happened, for the same reason I wasn't allowed to grab a pack of smokes off the counter at a gas station at the same age and walk out the door. The idea that you shouldn't have regulations because they don't cover every avenue you can hurt yourself is psychotic.

I’m old enough that the local supermarket would let me grab smokes for my mom when I wasn’t even ten, and the first porn I saw was my dad’s hidden box of playboys from the 60’s, but that was later because his comic book box was the interesting one until puberty

That said, arguing that ID doesn’t prevent anything is stupid. Making murder illegal doesn’t stop 100% of murder either

People should just have willpower and be the change they want to see in society.

Wanna show your butthole getting wrecked by bad dragon dildos on stream? Fine. But the feds should put a cap on it for income. Same with YouTube and other “content creators.” I’m all for capitalism, but if you get over 100K a year shoving plastics or dicks into your orifices, maybe, just maybe, you don’t deserve it.

Why did your parents give you unrestricted, unsupervised access to the internet at the age of five?
Why were you given any access to the internet when you were five years old?

Have willpower when you’re an adult. Kids these days are fucking retarded and need to be reigned in

I don't even know or care what's in Project 2025 but if it makes lefties seethe as much as you do and Trump's doing it, it has to be good.
P2025 is mostly a bunch of milquetoast "let's go back to before all the bad things happen but do nothing to actually stop the bad things from happening again".

Man, if only children had a set of older people that would pay attention to what they were doing.
You’re talking to a guy who was even married BEFORE conception

My kids will be oppressed to the appropriate degree where they at least never are so comfortable with pulling shit as to not worry about getting caught

It’s helpful that the wife and I don’t even drink, so we won’t be obvious hypocrites

This was the living room family computer. This was also admittedly pretty early internet and my parents were not savvy at all.

You could argue that this was neglect, but I said before: this was a children's music video on youtube. There was no reason to believe we should have even had the possibility of finding shit like that on there.

My point is that it's not even an issue of kids trying to gain access, at this point you have to put effort into avoiding it. Look at the roblox thread, or anything about the elsagate shit to see what I am talking about.
