Most drug users are low impulse control types who would have ruined their life with something if the drugs weren't the issue. My dad always told this story of a guy he worked with who would spend his paycheck at the bar withing a couple days. He finally quit drinking and then started blowing his paychecks on baseball card collecting. Almost all homeless people you meet are just nick without the trustfund and family support.
