I am surprised there is a quota system for auto import.

Oh my god...only 100k units allowed at 10%>>>>.

ROFL...

What the fuck is UK even doing ..

That deal is economic rape to the UK. They're taking our meat, our grain, our machines- and a 10% tarrif. Lmao.
Overall I think the primary objective of the deal was diplomatic in nature. The UK rushed to get in first with negotiating something and show a willingness to play ball.

That said however, the UK's largest exports to America are engines and cars, the former of which we won't have to pay a tariff on at all apparently, alongside steel and aluminium. Cars will be charged a 10% tariff for the first 100k before rising up to match the level of everybody else at 25%. Not everything has been agreed on yet, such as pharmaceuticals (the UK's 3rd biggest export to America) or the digital service tax (which I'm sure Elon would be interested in seeing gone). Certain exports from America to the UK, such as beef, will see no tariffs up to the first 13k tons, which is likewise for UK agricultural/meat exports into America. It also still has to meet our food safety standards, so no corn syrup in soft drinks and whatnot.

If this enables local farmers in the UK to sell shit abroad easier and cut down on the costs of feed and fertiliser, then the outcome of this deal doesn't need to be contentious or viewed as an 'own' necessarily. A big issue with farmers in the UK is that it was always cheaper for foreigners to sell here than for us to sell elsewhere, if this lack of tariff on agricultural products up to a certain tonnage enables farmers to make a living again by allowing them to sell in American markets, then there's no reason for this to be contentious. It could be a win for the UK and the USA.

:feels:

Let's not forget another insane deal that UK signed with India just a week ago.

Any Indian nationals working in UK will no longer have to pay separately into NHS.
Tiny correction: They won't have to pay any National Insurance tax for the first 3 years of living in the UK on a Visa. They'll benefit from our services whilst not paying anything into it. This goes both ways, but who's moving to go work as a chef or be a student in India? The America deal was better.

Uh...weren't the police black?
Yeah, that one I'm honestly conflicted about. The police group were actually a group of gangs that were the police. Nichols slept with the leader's fiance. So when he got busted for whatever he did, the leader realized it and the gang helped the leader wail on him. P sure there's an impressive haymaker on video iirc. But tbf according to my local contact no one in the community cared about it either bc they all knew why Nichols got beat. Only people that cared were white people and non locals.

Total Boomer Death.
I personally don't like the anti boomer sentiment. What they're doing and saying is retarded yes, but for the average boomer it's really not their fault.

They grew up in a world that made sense. They're simply not equipped to understand the current one. This happens to all people who age, but i think it's particularly bad with boomers due to the internet split and the fact that they still assume the news has any incentive to be objective because it did when they were our age.

I've actually had success getting my very left wing parents to understand things. You have to do one issue at a time very gradually but it is possible.

The last season of The Boys -- and Sausage Party come to think of it -- they were pretty explicitly "Fuck Trump" seasons.
That is pretty awful. I guess the people that want stuff like that will eat it up. But a show becomes less and less (re)watchable the further away you get from whatever current event it is referencing.

Anti-Trump shit is going to be Leviathan-tier cringe in the future.

Tillis doesn't yet realize how much he is going to regret what he has done.
He thinks he's gonna be able to just not run again for Senate and retire to some BS consulting job one of his lobbies has cooked up for him. He doesn't understand that Trump's DoJ is gonna uncover every skeleton in his closet and bankrupt him.

If I understand correctly, they're probably willing to take an extra large buttfucking here in exchange for being the first one to have a deal.

There is going to be a flood of investment into the UK announced in the coming weeks simply due to the fact that it's the only place that has a deal, there is certainty there and markets like certainty.

Macroeconomics are confusing as fuck but that aspect alone is a massive win for the UK that's difficult to quantify. I imagine this will be the case for the first 10 or so countries that sign.
