Primogems can't be bought, you're thinking of the crystals
Yes, but they convert 1 to 1, so that detail isn't that usefull for someone who isn't planning to put money into it.
I want new weapons that arent the craftable ones sometimes
Weapons are good, indeed, espechially when it comes to the better 5-star ones. But in the beginning you need characters more. And weapon banners have the whole 5 4-star options at a time, making rolling for exact one near-futile, unless you are very lucky or have enough resources to play with probability, and it's still 0.5*0.2 into 0.2 into 0.5*0.2 and so on. I tell that as somebody who wrote a wall of text explaining why Xiphos is a very good sword and also this.

Most of the time you play Genshin alone. Only your ping to their server matters.

ZZZ may be shitting itself, but I'll give them the bangboos:

anyone else have fun teams using characters in unintended roles?

I liked using xinqiu on Coop, you never see anyone using him, even on the goddamn crimson witch domain, but if built well he does good dmg and hydro.

I used quickswap ayaka+ganyu with field dps Ayato back then, later used with neuvilete while freeze worked. Their E+Q are good enough for that. I also used nahida on field instead of haitham fairly often cause it gave me a spare slot for zhongli. And for reasons i'm still not sure why, my Layla is decently built as a subdps instead of shielder.

BTW black beacon released in china and it did a reaaaally funny thing... It had a terrible buggy launch! But unlike the global server, the BB devs who are ex kuro devs were much nicer to the chinese players, giving them way better compensation through mail that you can rescue in a full month, including a standard 5* selector.

This person spent 200 euros on a mobile gacha release wow

I've been kinda curious about getting into Genshin and have been just kinda looking at it from the outside. What's the general game play loop like for a newbie who's never set foot in it?
Know someone already answered it, but it's basically an open world RPG. You go to a region, do the story quest, move on to the next one, doing side quest and opening chest along the way (this is also how you get your gacha currency). As for combat, its all about doing elemental reactions. Someone has water on them. Hit them with fire for big damage, or hit them with ice to freeze them. Each character has their own gameplan, but that's the general gist. The open world isn't hard so you can go with what you find the most fun rather than what is the most optimal.

One cavate (if you haven't played a gacha) is you need items to level up. Enemies give exp, but its almost pointless. You can use your stamina to get these or find some of them in the overworld. You will have to fight bosses which require the stamina. You won't notice this for some time. Also, while you can go everywhere in the world, one region (Inazuma) is locked behind the main story. I think you can do an ice bridge but I believe it will throw you back if you get too close.

Its a fun game that's worth a try. The game has expanded a ton since the initial release so I would say just play it and see if it jives with you.

I dropped this game because it's a mess. I also dropped Exedra because they're greedy fucks.

Genshin's Voynich Guild reminds me of Zaum from LoL. Or well, just any shoddy slum "part of cities" at night time with bunch of shady businesses kind. More toxic than HSR's Belobog Underworld.

I'm not rolling. But someone does the comparison between Phoebe and Rover for Zani.
Under ideal situation and current ToA spectro frazzle buff, Rover with Changli's sig is lesser (10-15%) than Phoebe S0R1. In addition, Phoebe gameplay is much easier than Rover, because she's ranged not melee like Rover, faster spectro frazzle stacks application and much less swapping back and forward like Rover.
Overall, having Phoebe is not only higher damage ceiling but also much better QoL gameplay feeling. Zani is playable with Rover, not the best team composition choice. Of course, Zani & Phoebe team is stronger than Phoebe & Rover.

Zani consumes spectro frazzle on enemies and turns them into/build up her forte bar (Blaze). Then pretty much automatically consuming Blaze to enhance her attacks. She doesn't have to worry about multiple waves in Whimpering Waste like Phoebe's constant need of spectro frazzle application on enemies.

Edit; Nerdy time. WuWa battlepass changes. Assuming trying to choose Supply Packs' rewards equally, all exp (characters, weapons, echoes) tubes are better but credits gained are worse off.
These things stay the same: crystal solvent, tuners, random echo boxes, wishings/rolls and Pioneer Association Supply boxes.

F2P version only gives blue and purple supply packs at 51 to 70, The paying version immediately gives gold supply packs much before that.
Value of each supply packs, can only pick one reward type. Colours are exp tier level amount for one supply pack.
Blue tier: 5 character exp, 5 weapon exp, 3 echo exp, 15 000 credits.
Purple tier: 5 character exp, 5 weapon exp, 3 echo exp, 40 000 credits.
Gold tier: 5 character exp, 5 weapon exp, 3 echo exp, 100 000 credits.

Pictures are from the old battle pass version all the way to LV 70. Comparison only mentions about changes.
F2P - public podcast channel.
F2P pioneer.webp
Green tubes give insignificant amount, ignore them.
New version up to level 50:
20 blue character exp potions and 12 purple character exp potions. WORSE.
24 blue weapon exp cores and 12 purple weapon exp cores. BETTER.
15 blue echo exp tubes and 8 purple echo exp tubes. BETTER.
140 000 shell credits. Actually a tiny bit better, old BP to level 50 gave 139k shell credits.

Newly added things up to level 50:
7 (medium) blue Pioneer Association Supply boxes.
6 echo main stat modifiers.

From level 51 to 70:
8 blue supply packs and 6 purple supply packs.

Let's say picking all 4 rewards somewhat equally, not picking shell credit for purple supply packs. Additional amount can be gained:
10 blue character exp and 10 purple character exp potions. Combining above, overall BETTER.
10 blue weapon exp and 10 purple weapon exp cores.
6 blue echo exp and 6 purple exp tubes.
30 000 shell credits. Worse in this case, old BP gave 5000 credits each level, so a total of 95 000.

Additional rewards from paying - insider podcast channel. More complicated,

Green box highlight are the same, red highlight - changes with exp amount and shell credits.
New version up to level 50:
25 purple characters exp and 12 gold character exp potions.
30 purple weapon exp and 12 gold weapon exp cores.
20 purple echo exp and 8 gold echo exp tubes.
430 000 shell credits.
8 (advanced) purple Pioneer Association Supply boxes and 1 (premium) gold Pioneer Association supply box. Better.

Newly added things up to level 50:
24 echo main stat modifiers. Combining with F2P, a total of 30 modifiers. AND 12 gold supply packs. Assuming picking rewards equally, so...
15 gold character exp potions.
15 gold weapon exp cores.
9 echo exp tubes.
300 000 shell credits.

Total amount to Level 50:
Character exp: 25 purple and 27 gold.
25 x 8000 + 27 x 20 000 = 740k. BETTER than the old BP, 18 x 3000 + 58 x 8000 + 6 x 20 000 = 638k.
Weapon exp: 30 purple and 27 gold.
30 x 8000 + 27 x 20 000 = 780k. MUCH BETTER than the old BP, 12 x 3000 + 34 x 8000 + 3 x 20k = 368k.
Echo exp: 20 purple and 17 gold.
20 x 2000 + 17 x 5000 = 125k. BETTER, old BP, 20 x 500 + 40 x 1000 + 24 x 2000 + 4 x 5000 = 118k.

From Lv51 to 70:
16 blue supply packs and 4 gold supply packs. Picking equal amount again.
Characters exp: 20 blue and 5 gold. (160k exp)
Weapon exp: 20 blue and 5 gold. (160k exp)
Echo exp: 12 blue and 4 gold. (32k exp)
Shell credit: 160 000. Total is 890k, worse than old BP (1.145k).

Yo guys, wanna hear a funny story? I was doing theater, nothing really complicated, except from trial xiao not being able to kill these damn mushrooms in one of the early rooms.
So, I make it to the last boss, have kequing, have fishl, have yaoyao, everything should be smooth. And I just fucking can't. Time runs out when boss is on its last 1/20 of HP as my best attempt. I was sneeding so hard I was ready to cut a vein near my asshole as a way of self-flagellation, and then I check and find out that kequing holds fucking favonius. Not the only good five star sword I have, not the lion's roar, but low base high ER with more ER. And there's no way to re-equip without starting the whole thing over. Fuck. I went out of it, decided to roll back, since it's only one room. I had hydro mimics in that one. So, I use kequing there and leave Arleccino for the boss. She fucking rapes that fucking triangle so hard that I even get a star, like a ideal example of >raped meme. This shit can be so ass sometimes.

ZZZ - What are your guys' fastest 5x common material clear times?

Tempted to try and hit level 60 before version 2 so I can quit in peace.

Hugo was fun to play in the few story mission(s?) he's in. Fitting Jun Fukuyama older brother pick.

Putting my mild coping and seething aside for a bit, the cubes should be the official WuWa mascots

Edit: Decided to try to push through 190M in Reveries

For Genshin, all Nod-krai faction teasers are now available as codes for redeem til 12:00 am May 3rd UTC-4 (somewhere USA timezone I think) or 05/04/2025 23:59 (UTC+8 ) for Asia timezone.
Redeem website
FATUI
FROSTMOONSCIONS
LIGHTKEEPERS
THEWILDHUNT
VOYNICHGUILD

Code : NODKRAI0910 (200 primos) valids til the same date with previous codes. I guess there'll be patch 5.8 then.
Genshin Nod-Krai behind the screen.
1) Pacing was moving too fast. Admitting there are too many loose threads in story, so they want to tie them up.
2) Using lots of old things/lore and expanding them for new lore. Everything is connected to the moon.
3) Favonius Knights will be the "tour guide" for Traveler in Nod-Krai.
4)
Lightkeepers are opposing Wild Hunt (old Abyss monsters, fae, spirits, undeads).
Scions of the Moon protect the Moon from Fatui (Environment vs Man). The praying statue will reflect on that idea.
Voynich Guild is in Nasha Town and a notable organization called Curatorium of Secrets.
Nod-Krai will also be the more technological advanced than previous Nations. So it's a challenge to dev team to "fill in the information gap" to players to feel less jaring.

5) Extras:
Real life inspiration into game design. Less on "civilization", but more/move into the "people" and how the "people" build the civilization instead.
Previously, playable characters aren't in open world because limited device power is their excuse.
They'll use over-scaled main storyline to shoulder bulk of character developments. Story quests and hangouts will be more weaving world exploration and interactions, replacing dialogue with content.
