I think you're on to something, except for the end bit and the unattractive bit. Are Pooners very unattractive? Yes. But that's often due to the clothing/weight/grooming/hygiene issues. The Pooners I've known have definitely had BDD and certainly see THEMSELVES as unattractive, but they were all beautiful young girls, minus, again, their grooming/hygiene/weight problems that were all easily fixable.

I think that we've forgotten that teens go through awkward and ugly phases. When I was a kid that was something that was just understood. Even joked about. My Mom and Dad both showed me photos of their "ugly" awkward years in middle and High School and I understood that not everyone flows gracefully from adolescence to adulthood.

These poor kids are hitting their ugly awkward phase and being told that this is actually a time to make critical, lifelong decisions about their body. You don’t earn a top hat. Sucks that I have to choose between an agree and a feel rating since I can’t select both. It used to be that it was okay, even encouraged, to not constantly discuss politics just about in any place that wasn’t about politics or politics adjacent.

I have been seeing so many “Fuck/No Nazis” crochet and knitting projects on Reddit lately. Even if I agree with the overall idea (as many of them have diluted “Nazi” to mean “person that I don’t like or disagrees with me,”), it’s annoying, even aggravating when you just wanted to see other people’s creations or get tips. Or you know, escape politics for a little bit. Similarly, been seeing a lot of people online talking about boycotting local craft shops because they “know” the owners are Republican or because they’re boycotting all American products due to Trump’s trade war. It’s near impossible to escape it and I hate it. It’s not just okay, but actually healthy, to not scream into your void or discuss politics at length 24/7.

Also doesn’t help that many leftists attitudes are racism or sexism under a progressive disguise. They really aren’t much better at the end of the day. Transgenderism is progressive endorsed sexism (particularly misogyny and homophobia) the more I think of it. Any man claiming to be a better woman than an actual woman would not be celebrated as empowering if it was seen for what it actually is. When the conservative stance looks more progressive than the actual progressive attitude, shit’s fucked.

These parents perform troonism in front of the kid’s friends, and that, coupled with younger kids seeing their parents/adults as “uncool” during those ages, leads to such a sense of embarrassment that the kid starts to regard troonism itself as cringe, leading them to reconsider. Sheer embarrassment can be effectively weaponized sometimes, compelling those engaging in idiotic behavior to essentially be turned off when confronted with a mirror image of their own idiocy, especially at youthful ages when malleability is at its peak.
