I'm wondering if it was a single stall, in which it is kind of weird for the other man to walk in there and just stand there. I would not wear that to an interview. Dresses are really hard to make professional. It's easier to go slacks and a nice blouse. With dresses, you have to use stockings to be professional enough for an interview, and make sure it isn't low-cut. That dress isn't that low-cut, but it's still lower than I would have worn for a dress.. The knee-high boots are not appropriate either, imo. They're always so bad at dressing it's laughable. The post under this one also features some god awful troon-fashion.

If I, for whatever reason, wanted to give a real piece of advice to trans women, it would definitely be "for the love of God, stop wearing knee high boots!".

They're always too old for them and have no clue when to use them. They are never for any kind of serious occasion. They're not even for the grand majority of casual occasions. There's no reason they should even own ones that look like those.

Snow boots are fine when it snows. Hiking boots are fine when you're hiking. They need to forget any other kind of boot exists.

I don't think it's that reliable a tell anymore, unfortunately. First, a lot of heterosexual women started saying 'partner' instead of 'boyfriend'. I'm told as a passing trans guy I need to "use my male privilege to protect the community". Like any other dude I have the fantasy of tackling an active shooter but obviously that's not realistic. A female coworker (I'm not out to her) said "if I was in danger the men here would protect me. Even you, I think." That last part was like, ouch! but of course she would have doubts.
I wish I could be a strong dude or even a tough butch but I'm pretty pathetic honestly. I'm not very smart or assertive and I tend to panic in even everyday crises. The coworker is far more capable in most situations than me. If anything happened I don't think I'd piss myself but I don't think I'd be very helpful either, I wouldn't know what to do. I kind of resent that because I'm masculine I'm expected to be more capable than I was before when I'm absolutely not. But I recognize passing for cis gives me some social advantage and I probably should be.

As a TRANS man you dont really have male privilege because in the eyes of society we aren't male (you can "give up" being male but you can't opt into it, essentially, because why would they share out their power with people they see as failed women/barely even people?). That being said, there's nothing wrong with wanting to do it yourself. Don't underestimate the power of just being masculine and there, plenty of people willing to do harm to a woman won't risk it. Even if you have a weapon you're more likely to get hurt yourself than successfully use it to hurt them. Based on the situation you're looking to deescalate by being a distraction or a deterrent: as a distraction you try to get them talking, try and send the other person somewhere safer, possibly to call for help depending on the situation, and as a deterrent you watch what they're doing openly and make it clear it's no longer 1v1. A lot of people willing to harm a woman alone are cowards and don't want witnesses.
Confidence and assertiveness are very fake it til you make it skills. It's not bravery if you aren't scared. Adrenaline helps but if you want you can practice standing and talking confidently in the mirror or to a friend, see what works and what doesn't for you
If you haven't already, take a first aid class. Barely relevant, I just think everyone should know first aid. A lot of charities do free ones
