Its like if your fighting 20 people and you for some reason think if you wail on the biggest guy super hard all 19 of the rest will feel it by proxy, you have to distribute the punches "evenly" or your get outflanked. This metaphor is loosing is structure fast but you get what im trying to say, the issue isent how MUCH we rely on any one overseas partner its the reliance on ANY overseas partner thats the problem and unless we acknowledge that and start to apply an even handed level of diplomatic and economic pressure, all we are going to do is form new opportunistic blocs of countries that will only have the commonality of not working with us leaving us with the wholly economically WORTHLESS groups who the more opportunistic and powerful entity's did not want.
Trumps plan lacks a real carrot right now, its all based on ideology and "America First", and ideology mind you, as an American if I thought this plan was going to selfishly help only us id have no reason to not love it, but its so far from that its not even funny. Did you even know Chip fabs need industrial amounts of water to? cant just plop it out in the west end of Decatur TX it needs to be next to a huge amount of unused running water. These huge roadblocks prevent even a powerful enitys such a the united states government just snaping its fingers and making large numbers of highly needed chip fabs just appear
Thats juts one example of the many things we get from overseas we need to be DIPLOMATIC about, I want America to be first as much as you all, I promise I do, Im not dooming or trolling im trying to point out real failure points im seeing in this policy and what might be learned from it as its not likely you or I will be able to impart much "change".
I dont have an overly large amount of kind things to say about the Chinese as a people but I will tell you one thing, from my time reading thier history I can give them the distinctions of being the people, tied with the Russians, for being able to handle more pain, suffering and out right unfairness with nothing but stoic duty to their family and the state. We are picking a battle of attrition with a poor opponent if we wish to win unilaterally.
