Everyone was putting their kids on that shit because it was the magic pill that got you the children from TV families you always wanted. My small town school/pediatrician doesn't usually prescribe anything for kids unless they are actively struggling to learn because of ADHD, and when they do prescribe something it tends not to be amphetamines. 24 hour release Guanfacine is one that they use first in hopes that they won't have to prescribe anything stronger.
3.3 Million children are prescribed ADHD medication. I don't know if it's Ritalin or not. Most are some kind of stimulant, which in my opinion, isn't much different than any other.
Even adults with ADD/HD have to jump through hoops to get the stuff now so I doubt it.
