Well they refuse to pay a good wage because they have slaves. Simply restrict that access.
Oh I 100% agree but it's not going to be that simple congress would never pass something like that? Do you know how much they get lobbied by big farming industries? Until shit like lobbying is completely banned forever a lot of really good changes are literally impossible to make.

From a libertarian perspective how are tariffs any different then any other tax they are just as much theft

From a libertarian perspective how an you support Trump as his plan to reshore manufacturing requires so much government oversight.

If your not a libertarian and you support sacrificing in the short term for the same of making America stronger why are you against say raising the income tax to pay down debts and more economic planning ?

Either every politician has to list who had been lobbying them on their suits like they're Nascar drivers or total lobbyist death

The reason people are against the tariffs, is because the messaging around the tariffs has been completely inconsistent. At first, Trump called it “Liberation Day,” claiming the goal was to free America from dependence on foreign trade. Now, the narrative has shifted to say it's about securing better trade deals—but most people don’t see those deals as worth the economic pain we’ve already endured. Worse, it’s still unclear what tangible benefits we’re supposed to gain from all of this, if anything at all.

If we let all the able-bodied welfare recipients do farm work and keep the money without cutting their benefits, there would be plenty of farm workers. The thing that sucks about farm work is that it isn't a year-round job for most workers. Welfare recipients won't mind being laid off half the year if they still get gibs. Seasonal farm work should count as the work requirement for EBT and other programs too. Do both of those things, and we'd have plenty of citizen farm workers. They'd have to be paid minimum wage though, not piece rate, so the farmers will bitch and struggle and try to sabotage the program so they can get their slaves back

Can you explain the tangible benefits of the status quo?

A: Getting a better deal and freeing America from dependance on foreign trade are the same thing.
B: Nobody has endured any economic pain other than wall street executives jerking each other off.
C: Tangible benefits will take time. This isn't one of your bdsm gooning sessions where you're given a constant drip of reward chemicals. Let the adults handle things.

What pain? Please list the purchased items you have already paid a tariff on. Did you rush out and buy a Chinese car at 145% markup?

Like with a samurai sword or a tiny little squirrel guillotine?
Yeah, they specifically make rodent guillotines for that purpose.

The definitive test for rabies in a wild animal is done by decapitation, and there is even a tool made for the job, as unbelievable as that sounds. The tool is called the "decapitation guillotine" and it looks just like it sounds. The really hard-to-believe part is that it is made by an outfit called --wait for it -- "Animal Care." A guillotine! The sales pitch is as follows:

"When it is necessary to remove the head of a rabies-suspect cadaver, our decapitation Guillotine does the job safely, cleanly, and easily. Features a screw-type mechanism that slowly lowers a cutting blade. Opening is 10"Wx14"H. Heavy steel construction then powder-coated. This is the only guillotine we know of that assures complete operator safety and gets the job done right."

America picked the worst possible time to impose tariffs on China.

China just announced a nuclear battery that can last 50 to 100 years without recharging. To be fair, South Korea has an alternative in development, but it doesn’t appear to be ready yet—and oh yeah, Trump slapped tariffs on them too.

America’s nuclear investment is practically third-world level. The real reason is that the key elements required for a successful nuclear program are precisely what America struggles with most: follow-through, consistent investment, and a clear, long-term plan.

In the U.S., too many people hold too much localized power, which has led to a graveyard of half-finished nuclear projects. Guys, it’s not the 1800s anymore—centralization is the way of the future. Just accept it and stop trying to cling to outdated governance models.

Yeah because it's definitely Trump's fault that a helicopter went down. Not even pretending to care about the human life, his firstt thought was "How can I make this about republicans?"

Non-thermal atomic batteries have existed since the 1970s. They were invented in the US. The Soviets also had lighthouses powered by more primitive but more powerful nuclear batteries.

Every technology that "China has but the West doesn't" turns out to be something that was invented in the West decades ago.

>China releases a LLM that runs much faster and lighter than OpenAI's offerings by virtue of not running on jeet code
>Riding the momentum, China immediately announces that they've also invented an ultrafast quantum supercomputer, a near infinite nuclear battery, and a cure for cancer, but they're at home and you can't see them yet

Who believes this shit uncritically

Holy shit, a Chinese cold-fusion reactor just flew over my house!

Found an oversized one of these at work (for medium sized animals) after we shut down a certain medical department. Sat at a desk for months until some C suite guy saw it and got pissed off. Sadly somebody else got to take it home :(

edit: found a picture, edited for obvious reasons. It almost seemed homemade, but was plenty sharp.
