This is gold standard for accent elimination in any language, it works. You can also get a lot of benefit simply listening to women whose voices you like and want to emulate, and eliminating listening to voices of women you don't want to emulate. Speaking along with the model in the way I described is necessary to really do the job though but listening is worthwhile and takes less effort.

You will have more success with this the more delusional confidence you can generate about it and listening to people who say it can't be done will massively slow your progress. Literally make a shrine to Eliza Doolittle if you like kind of that thing.

Thank you!! I asked my boyfriend to find women he likes the voice of so I can copy. I'll update you on how it goes.
 
I can't tell if English is not your first language or if you have some speech issues. This is important because if English *is* your first language your speech issues are serious enough that you may qualify for speech therapy.

What I am hearing can be massively improved though. I understand why people are reading you as male/tranny without being able to see you, it's fixable.

It is my first language and I do have speech issues. I actually had speech therapy as a kid and it got fucked up in a weird way.

At this point i don't care if it works (i have actual responsibilities and a job) but is still a possibility?

Apparently he said I sound sweet when I'm vcing with him but for other people I sound like the vocaroo

eta: rate me optimistic and disagree all you want, this is suburban white american middle class, and a couple of other cultures, it's not universal. it's also massively dysfunctional. I never act like this cause I wasn't taught to and none of my female relatives act like this, but it's obvious you never should do it for men in general, only for men who are doing things for you. if you feel all squished I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but not taking up space aint one.

I'm sorry to tell you this but I'm not white or middle class and I didn't grow up in the US. The not taking up space thing is universal, even if the leg crossing itself isn't.

Also the person I was responding to was asking about places where leg crossing is seen as a default sitting posture, so...try again?

Anyway I have an actual request. I often get told I sound like a tranny and/or have an annoying voice. How can I fix this on my own? My parents do not think there's anything wrong with my voice and won't pay for any voice training classes. I can't really seek them out on my own either due to personal issues that make me sound like a loser if I elaborate too much on. Can someone help? What should I keep in mind to sound more female? I'm even hesitant to post this because I straight up get nicknamed "tranny" in vcs and/or banned/blocked.
